The story (http://www.denverpost.com/ci_14070088):
Actor Charlie Sheen was booked into the Pitkin County Jail on felony domestic violence charges today, authorities in Aspen said.
Aspen police were summoned by a 9-1-1 to a home at 320 West Hallam St. near downtown at about 11:20 a.m..
A unnamed "victim did not require transport to the hospital," according to a statement from police.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Brooke Mueller was legally drunk when she called 911 on Charlie Sheen.
Sources say authorities gave both Charlie and Brooke blood alcohol tests. Brooke registered a .13 while Charlie registered a .04.
We're also told Brooke recanted her story to a female officer just before today's bail hearing. Nevertheless, law enforcement sources say police will still pursue the case -- at least for now.

Couldn't They™ just kill him and make it look like a drug overdose? I mean, if they were really that worried about that fake interview he did (notice how truthers are no longer outraged about initial deception and utter worthlessness of the fake interview; they need it now to explain what's going), I don't think an amazingly weak, apparently false allegation against him is going to do much. He assaulted a prostitute for Christ's sake. If he's still going strong after that, this isn't going to do anything...
Another example of how truthers utterly lack a sense of perspective.
Also, his death would just be another win-win scenario for truthers. He allegedly did something stupid, but is still alive, therefore it was an attempted character assassination. If he had died, by any means, it would "obviously" have been homicide.
Truthers: They're all winners in their world.

.04 (Charlie's BAC) is hardly dead drunk. More from TMZ:
Charlie Sheen's felony menacing charge is even more menacing than it sounds -- because according to Colorado law, the charge is only handed out if someone alleges that a weapon of some sort was involved in the incident.
According to the Aspen Police Department, the charge includes "anything that can be used as a weapon" ... whether it's a "knife, fork or rolling pin." The charge even includes instances, "when one claims to be armed with a deadly weapon."
We're told body parts -- like fists and feet -- do not count. No further details about the charge are being released at this time.

I completely understand where you are coming from. It's just that, when asked if you celebrate Christmas, you didn't say "No, I'm Jewish". You said "No, I'm not Christian". I didn't understand why you'd answer that way considering there is a large and longstanding secular celebration of Christmas as well. Santa, Frosty the Snowman.. people getting together to celebrate family and good times.. all that jazz. In fact, prevailing wisdom is that Christmas was originally a winter festival of sorts, that Christians co-opted. So I wasn't sure what you saying.

After precise engineering of Charlie Sheen's second divorce, we managed to plant our operative, Brooke Allen (Mueller-Sheen), into position to discredit and ultimately silence this voice of the Truth. After faithfully remaining undercover for over a year and a half and bearing twins to Sheen in furtherance of our noble plans for world domination, Agent Allen consumed an appropriate amount of alcohol and badgered Sheen into assaulting her, resulting in his being jailed for the holiday and causing considerable embarrassment to our enemy, the Truth Movement.

Character assassination? On Charlie Sheen? What the hell for? That's like setting fire to a volcano; unnecessary and redundant.

i am not a Christian.
What does this mean? Only Christians can have good Christimases?
I went on a politically correct campaign for awhile where I only wished somebody a Merry Christmas if I was sure they wouldn't be offended. But jeez who is offended by being wished a Merry Christmas and does it imply some advocacy of Christianity or a belief in the supernatural?
I am really asking about this. As somebody who grew up in the American culture but who has no memory of ever having any religious beliefs I had never really considered all the religious implications of wishing somebody a Merry Christmas. Is it anti-semitic? We have traded Christmas gifts with our secular Jewish friends, are they being disloyal to their heritage by partaking in the custom?

The main reason I came to this thread was to get a feel for what the truth of the situation was or at least what my fellow skeptics thought about it.
Both stories seem fairly implausible to me. Charlie Sheen really held down his wife and threatened to cut her throat? Or his wife made up this story out of whole cloth?
Sheen, has been a jerk, an addict and a philanderer. Has he ever done anything remotely like this? On the other hand, if he didn't do it, how was it in all the world of women that he might have picked to be his wife he picks one that would make up a story like this. Drunk or not this doesn't sound like something that a sane woman would do. And if the woman was crazy enough to make up something like this it seems like there must have been signs of her craziness long before this.
OK, so now it sounds like she might be recanting her story. What does that mean if she was willing to lie about something like this she would certainly be willing to lie about it not happening. And somebody mentioned that Sheen had shot somebody. Was that a joke? I may not be as up on my Charlie Sheen facts as I should be to be a participant in this thread.
So, what happened here? Does anybody have a gut feel about what the truth of this situation is? From some of the posts, it sounds like Sheen holds some nutjob 9-11 theories. Is that a relevant fact as to whether or not he actually held his wife down and threatened to cut her throat? And if so what is the significance of it?

I take it LibraryLady thinks he actually did threaten his wife with a knife.
At this point it certainly seems plausible. Although, it's a big leap from his past lapses to this. My own, largely uninformed guess, is that Sheen did threaten his wife with a knife. My guess, is that the guy is significantly disturbed and some kind of intoxicant, possibly alcohol is enough to push him into nut job land.
ETA: I wasn't able to find a primary source on the shooting incident with Kelly Preston, but the story is repeated in hundred's of places on the web. It's not clear what happened. Apparently Sheen claims the gun went off when he heft it loaded in a pocket and Preston picked them up. Apparently Preston told a different story, but I couldn't find the details of what she said. At any rate, immediately after that they called off their engagement.

I have an open mind on the subject, I just wanted to point out that Sheen in no stranger to violent threats.
I think it's pretty likely he did something violent, but as I recall, they need to prove something in a court of law.

That was just a summary of some of the past Charlie Sheen fun. The knife deal is new and his wife is now apparently recanting the story. However, there is a possible mercenary explanation for her recantment. She is a stakeholder in Sheen's career and it doesn't seem like holding women down and threatening to slash their throats will be good for it.

Well, there's truth and there's what's provable beyond a reasonable doubt in court. Both are interesting to me. We rarely can know what the truth is but we can sometimes make a good guess based on available information. Beyond a reasonable doubt in he said/she said cases is very difficult to obtain and the wife's apparent equivocation will probably make that impossible. There might be enough evidence for some kind of civil judgment (more likely than not criteria) but I think money and/or the children will prevent this from ever going to civil court. So I think we'll be left with rumor and internet musing as the basis of figuring out what the truth is.
However this shakes out, his finances are going to take a big hit, so instead of being the richest television actor going, he'll just be one of the richest.

You mean like the "official" story of 9/11 was proven in a court of law beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt to the satisfaction of a jury that they felt comfortable with putting a man into a concrete box for 23 hours a day for the rest of his unnaturally prolonged life?
If the evidence for Sheens spousal abuse is as strong as that for the "official" version of 9/11, then he is screwed (and I don't mean the kind of "screwed" that Sheen pays 20,000 dollars a night for)
(Or maybe I do? "Charlie Charlene, this is your new cellmate boyfriend, Bubba...")

i see no reason to "celebrate" the birth of a kid born of a non-virgin...who was crucified for not being the Son of God.
I had my holiday, I enjoyed it. Its called Hannukah. It lasts 8 crazy nights. :)
(as opposed to my sister, who sees fit to celebrate Christmas, but didn't have a damn menorah in her window. i am a little pissed at her over this.)

I didn't quite understand the point of all that, but is SOT some flavor of truther? Or is his point that the people the government says were involved in 9-11 are actually innocent or might be innocent. Sorry, sometimes for the less sophisticated amongst us, interpreting what was actually meant by the sarcasm is not always easy.

My point is that the "official" story of 9/11 (note the use of scare quotes) has been proven to the courtroom standards that Library Lady mentioned.
The 23 hours a day in a concrete box is a reference to ADX Florence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADX_Florence) "Supermax" prison where convicted 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui is currently incarcerated.

I must say that I'm highly disappointed by this thread. I'm no Sheen fanboy, but you guys claim to be skeptics. You're condemning this guy simply because of a vague media report. It seems like everyone here has already condemned him as guilty. I know you all hate the guy, but that doesn't automatically mean he's a wife-beater.

It's hard to believe you and I read the same thread. I have been interested in what actually happened. It seems like both the idea that Sheen actually held a knife to his wife's throat and that his wife would claim he that Sheen had threatened her with a knife when if fact he hadn't were both unlikely possibilities and yet it seems that one or the other possibility is true.
When I asked people what they thought had happened, I didn't notice anybody stepping forth and saying they knew what happened or even that either possibility was all that much more likely than the other.
People did step forth and provide links to evidence of past Sheen bad acts as a means of providing information that might be useful as far as making a guess about what happened here. Does that mean that the people who provided links to evidence of Sheen's past bad acts were claiming that this proved something about the current situation? I didn't notice that. They were providing some information that might be used to formulate a guess about what happened, but guessing that Sheen did hold a knife to his wife's throat is very different than claiming or assuming that Sheen held a knife to his wife's throat. I haven't seen that anybody in this thread has done that.
And I haven't noticed a scintilla of evidence in this thread that anybody hates Sheen. Being curious about the range of human behavior and making guesses about what Sheen did, seems completely unrelated to liking or hating Sheen.

I could hate Charlie Sheen. He raped my father and killed my mother. Then he sold my sister into white slavery in Somalia. Then he came back and burned our home to the ground causing my little brother and I to go into foster care where I was placed with a closet transvestite crack whore named Benicia and I had to eat cardboard boxes to quiet my stomach while she smoked away the DHCF checks and kept me chained to a radiator. I later learned the fate of my little brother, he ended up as a pass around toy for the Des Moines chapter of NAMBLA. What a horrible fate... Des Moines...
He also kicked my cat on the way out the front door. Twice.
Good thing I don't hold a grudge.

Did I forget to mention that he killed me... twice? Bludgeoned to death once by a tire iron and the other with a whiffle bat. To be fair the first softened me up for the second...
I got better... Kinda.
