For people who are coming early- this is a thread with some tentative plans if you want to meet up Tuesday/Wednesday, and explore the town together with other overachievers ;)
We can exchange contact information, or a way to get in touch with each other in Vegas. I will move from another hotel to Tuscany on Wednesday, so Tuscany may not be the place to locate everyone.
So far, early birds are- budddyh, Finella, Marc and PeterB- in addition to myself. I also thought Brown mentioned he was coming early, as did Electric Monk and Wyvern, and the TAM organizers.
I plan to explore Vegas, Strip, walk around the casinos, maybe Hoover Dam or Grand Canyon, Fremont street, museums there (Bellagio gallery and Guggenheim) and others places. I am sure there is plenty to do, and I will not get to do it all :). But it might be fun to have company.
I will probably be in Monday.
Some resources
http://www.lasvegas.com Lists many attractions- hours, directions, contact information
http://www.chowhound.com/southwest/boards/southwest/southwest.html is THE board to discuss places to eat in Vegas. Chowhounds in LA never steer me wrong. Sadly, this board also covers some other cities. Based on reading this board I already have a list of places I must eat at when I am in Vegas. If you ask questions, make sure to indicate your preferences and price range- one problems with the chows is that unless specified, they think your budget is unlimited, and recommend the most expensive place.

We (my beautiful bride and I) are driving in sometime on Tuesday. Probably not early enough to catch Ronn Lucas (http://www.ronnlucas.com/) which is a shame (shut up!) I think we're going to see Lance Burton late Tuesday evening. It's a bit cheesy, but that's what Vegas is about, right?
Wednesday we're planning on heading out to Hoover Dam.
Late Wednesday evening we're seeing Cirque de Soleil. My bride's choice (but she didn't say which one, so I chose for her. Hah!)
If anyone wants to tag along (especially to Hoover Dam) or just hang out, then give us a holler.
Oh, we're staying at the Stratosphere Tuesday and Wednesday night because it's insanely cheap.

I'll be there wednesday as well, with little to do. Hoover Dam at light sounds fine. Just walking the Strip at night is fine, too.
Bellagio and Guggenheim sounds positively snobbish - so I wanna go, of course! ;)

I booked with the Tuscany in November through an email link on their site which said "Hotel Reservations". A month later they wrote back to tell me that they don't take bookings by email and that I was booked in as one person for three nights rather than two rooms for six nights. When I rang them I was put on hold (nothing like being told "Your call is important to us" when you make an international call) and I was then subjected to what Oscar Wilde was talking about when he said "two nations separated by a common language". SkeptoBabe and I might be sleeping in a stable, but I am still hopeful that I will be at the Tuscany from Monday night.
I will be (very expensively) contactable on my roaming mobile phone at +61419219659, but messages at the Tuscany might be better.

"Strip"? No, that's not for me. I'll watch though.
I'm arriving Wednesday about 10:30. I've got a ticket to see Lance Burton's show that night, and will probably be dragged in to help the organizers at some point (who would have thought they'd have kept copies?) Other than that I'd enjoy exploring with fellow skeptics!

:D This is all part of the incentive program to get you to TAM!! :p
(Of course given the new edit cut off time, I can't hide my embarassing English language poverty....)

I'm arriving Saturday.
At this point I'm not quite sure how my schedule is shaping up for Wednesday.
If we're going to set something up, I'd have to make some tentative plans within the next two days... 'cause on Saturday, I'll be in Sin City.

I'll be arriving at the hotel Thursday at 12:30 pm aprox, and will be available at 3 pm for any extracurricular activity. The Conference starts at 5 pm, so given such a tight schedule, a modest city tour is all I can reasonably stick to as an early activity.
Any info regarding sightseeing tours in Vegas will be appreciated. Renata's link does not seem to cast any light on that.

If this is your first visit to Vegas, and you don't have a lot of extra time for site-seeing, I suggest that you can easily spend all of your time checking out the sights and casinos along the Strip. I think there may even be some type of trolley if you get tired of walking. Other than that, I would say that the things already discussed such as Hoover Dam and the Red Rock Cyn tour pretty much cover the major attractions.
Unless you wanna go shopping . . .

I will be arriving Wednesday afternoon and I'm not ready to make concrete plans just yet. I'll probably just wonder around aimlessly looking for people who might be JREFers.

:fg: Thanks for the info. Yes, this is my first visit to Vegas. I guess that the "Strip" is a kind of boulevard or section of the city where all famous casinos, theaters and hotels are concentrated?. A walking sightseeing will be fine to me, provided the Strip is not so far away from the Tuscany.
Plans for Sunday afernoon and Monday contemplate Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam visits resp.
And hey!! ,, don't even mention the word shopping :D. Just hope there's no Best Buy or Circuit City near the hotel, it'd be very hard for me to resist the temptation, electronics are my weakness :D

I'll be driving in on Wednesday. The current plan is to be there about noon.
Aside from any volunteer work setting things up, I'm all yours.

I'll be arriving Wednesday night(one week from now, woohoo!) and only have plans to go to Star Trek: The Experience on Thursday. Other than that, I'm free for anything and/or everything available to do before TAM.

oooo, I want to see that too!
I'll probably be hitting the hotel about 1500 on Wednesday. I've already volunteered to be Linda's slave labor. Don't know how much stuff will be left to be done by that time.
I'm up for just about anything afterward.

well my plans for Tues-Thurs was to go exploring the strip. Only definit thing on there was to find that Star Trek attraction.
Was thinking of bringing my cell phone to be in easier contact if needed.

I will arrive on Tuesday so I have Wednesday to explore different parts of Las Vegas. Guggenheim sounds interesting. I will be living under the more discreet name of Råsmark or probably Rasmark. To get in touch with people at the hotel might be a problem but now at least you all know my name.

I am in Vegas already, and met one JREFer so far- Claus Larsen, who does indeed have devil's horns as we all suspected.
Other JREFers- where are you? :)
I have been on the Strip, some other places, things are going great. If you want to meet me, PM me, and I will give you my cell.

I wanna do Star trek too! I land Thursday at 1:00, so I should be around about 3:00 to do stuff. I also need to check the official schedule...

SkeptoBabe, SkeptoBear and I are in town already.
At the Tuscany (full story will be told several times between now and whenever).
Mobile is +61419219659, but it costs both ends big bucks so don't think I'm rude if I don't want to talk for long.

Room B310. Not all of us though. SkeptoBabe and I are good friends but not what the tabloids call "just good friends".

I'll be arriving Wednesday night, hopefully around 8:00. I'm not staying at the Tuscany, but will probably wander over, loiter in the lobby and keep my eyes peeled for familiar faces and/or people with a general air of skepticism.
I look nothing like my avatar, but will be wearing a T-shirt with a drawing of him on it.

Too bad! I think he's cute.
Plus, his expression is similar to the expression on my avatar's face!
I'll be arriving Wednesday - dunno what time. Depends on what time I can drag my butt out of bed, and how long the shopping outlets along the drive hold my attention!
Wednesday, I plan to be very comfortable. And I don't look like my avatar, unfortunately. If you see a short, pasty-faced woman with medium-length brown hair, wearing black exercise pants that say Malibu on the butt, give me a shout! (Guys, don't knock it. I'm giving you a credible excuse to check out women's butts!)

We'll be there!

I am in C312 or more correctly it is the room I am in when I have nothing better to do. And finding better things to do does not seem so difficult.

I've just checked in to te Tuscany with my father (my mother's ETA is Midnight tomorrow. Since I was a doofus and forgot to check the board before I left, I'm stuck on the lousy webTV in the room. Don't have much patience for it, so no PM swapping. If you want to contact me, my room number is D110 and my cell phone number is (908) 295 9254. LINES ARE NOW OPEN. ;)

I'm here . . .
Randi was the first person I saw :)
Then Lisa came into our room, stripped and showed me her new tattoo and left :D
I've also talked with Electric Monk, Skeptic Scott, Unrepentant Sinner, Wonderful World, Hal, and PeterB, SkeptoBabe and SkeptoBear. All FABULOUS people.
Those Australians are lunatics. Guess that's what happens when you're all upside down and bass ackwards. :D

I just found out today, no. Apparently our hotel is only a block and a half off the strip. So I canceled it.
I get in tomorrow around 10:00 am, should put me at the hotel around 11:00.
How do I find folks? (And I'm not dragging my laptop along, so no email. My cell# is 314-322-9686
