Maybe. I'm pretty sure there'd be more fun uses of a trip to DC.

I guess I would go, since it's planned for DC and is local for me.

I would, but it's scheduled the year after the world ends. That's too late.

I wouldn't attend a conference that would have me as a member.

Seriously what is this need to have others around you who think like you? I wouldn't attend if they held it in my living room. It seems atheists are determined to make all the mistakes the theists have made. Form organizations, define who is in and who is out, no thanks.

PZ is dead wrong on this.

Brilliant!

And correct.

When a-philatelists start arming themselves to kill philatelists will be the time to start atheist clubs.

I've never liked those smug stamp collectors. Who's with me?

If we can round up the model railway nerds while we're at it, I'm in!

Careful I hear you can start a revolution by rebelling against tax collectors.

So, do you go and hang out with Bible thumpers or do you just sit around your house by yourself all day long?

Damn right!

Those self-satisfied nerds sitting in their mommy's garage - about time someone outed them all!

Never been to a "conference" before, eh?

I understand what you are saying and somewhat agree but it also would be nice to be around people who share a similar view once in a while. I come from a religious family, I live in a conservative area and find myself around mostly spiritual people. The topic of god, prayer, evil, it comes up, a lot and I am always the one to have to bite my tongue so as not to "offend".

You know what's funny? I decided, years ago, not to put my beliefs on my children. When they ask a question, I give them the science answer. I am an atheist, my exhusband is an atheist but because people speak of Christianity as so matter-of-factly, my kids call themselves Christian. My lack of action hasn't helped but societal point of view made my kids Christian.

It would be nice to see a little organization and possibly demand a little consideracy towards us. I don't want a politically correct title or anything like that but the same way Merry Christmas changed over to happy holidays as to acknowledge that other holidays are celebrated in that same time, a little attention to the fact that atheists do make up a considerable population might some day change the question from "Which church do you go to?" to "Do you believe?"
