Naked Naga saints to use Kumbha Mela to campaign against global warming (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2010/01/05/2010-01-05_naga_saints_to_use_kumbha_mela_to_campaign_agai nst_global_warming.html)
New York Daily News
When thousands of naked Hindus speak, will the world listen?
That's what the Naga Sadhus hope will happen starting later this month, when they spread their anti-global warming message during Kumbha Mela, the largest gathering of Hindus in the world.
The massive religious event in India is being used by the order, famous for their lack of clothing and coating their bodies in a layer of ash, in order to promote living green.
"Since the Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering, we have decided to do our bit to save the planet from global warming," said Shri Soham Baba, Mahamandalesvara of Juna Akhara, said to be the commander-in-chief of the Naga saints, according to reports.

This sounds kind of like that plan of Al Gore to appeal to people's religion to get his global warming message out.
Since there's a lot of evidence to suggest fudging of climate data, this sounds quite manipulative.

Watch them come after you for that one INRM.
I don't see this as much of anything new here, Copenhagen seemed one great big religious-type statement too.

I think you might be saying something else if they had succeeded.

Their anti-global warming campaign will reportedly include signs with statements such as 'Stop Global Warming, Save the Himalayas' written in diferent languages. There will also be a photo exhibition created by the Naga that they believe illustrate the effects of climate change.
That ought to work ... I'm excited ..
P.S.
Doesn't going without clothing contribute to global warming ?

Well, yeah. It has something to do with that whole skepticism thing this site promotes.
INRM, I notice you tend to buy into rumors without checking them out first. If this is based on what I think it is, you've done it again. But because this is a site that promotes skepticism and I can't read your mind, what evidence are you referring to and can you provide a citation for your source?

Since when was gossip and politically derived rhetoric considered "a lot of evidence?"

Only that other aspects of it would be a hell of a lot more noticeable.
Of course I don't really know what you'd say.

I didn't mean to take you literally - so we are cool there, as I understood your intent with the comment.
I ask sincerely, "what other aspects"? :)

Such as regulations that would affect the way you live. Not that you's shut up about the religious aspect.

Part right, part wrong.
I would still say that Copenhagen was a great big religious funfare.
In that a different result might have ramifications for me - you may have been right.
On this point I am interested in your thoughts though.
Given that Copenhagen was an unmitigated failure in terms of what warmer or green groups etc may have desired, what outcomes do you think may have made me change my tune?
