View Full Version : Islam is becoming the most popular religion in USA

There was a documentary on Ch4 last night about white Americans in Texas converting to Islam. They are more fanatical about the religion than a born muslim. I thought the way they dressed was ridiculous. The attire i.e. long robes and head covers are more fitting to desert life and the middle ages. I realise muslim women aren't suppose to show their hair (who says so?) but why isn't modern head gear worn. What amuses me most is that in the christian faith a male has to take his head gear off as he enters 'God's' house wereas a muslim man leaves his head gear on for the mosque. Christians leave their shoes on, muslims take them off.....ha.....ha....ha the man making up all these 'control freak' rules originally, must have laughed off his robes watching all these peasants doing as he said.
One convert in the documentary was originally going to be a methodist bishop, he hurt his family very much by becoming muslim. He said Islam was the way of life he'd always desired but I say that one doesn't need religion to 'behave' or 'do good'
If every religion in the world stopped for ever at midnight tonight, would the earth stop spinning and flirt us all off?
Doh....the mind boggles. Religion should have been left where it belongs.....in the middle ages. That's my feeling on it anyhow, for what it's worth

Both Mormonism and Jehovah's Witless claim to be the fast growing.
Who to believe? :p

It seems to me that Caucasians are the most avid followers of any religion they practice.

Of course converts are more fanatical. It takes a lot higher level of interest to convert to a religion than it does to be born into it. Then again, converts are also susceptable to convert to the next flavor of the week.

Well, at least the situation today is far better than those of the yester years.
What I'd like to know is going on in the mind of the guy that converted? Is Christianity suddenly "false"? What suddenly made Islam the "true" religion? What about all the other gazillion religions, mythologies, et al?

This sounds a lot like what I call the Guess The Derivative Club. So some Texans are converting to Islam. Does that mean
a) The number of Muslims is high
b) The rate of change of the number of Muslims is high
c) The rate of change of the rate of change of the number of Muslims is high
ad nauseum
Given any sizable set of data points, it's usually possible to find a derivative of a fitted curve that's greater than zero.

Does this mean that Madonna will abandon Kabbalism and put on a Burka?

Being into Kalifornia Kabbala is like being into aromatherapy. It's not a real religion in any sense.
Scientology, on the other hand, has become a real religion in every sense, never mind that it began as a fraudulent method of psychotherapy. I'd like to see whats-his-name you know mister Saturday Night fever Tony Manero duh yeah ... John Travolta switch to Islam.
That'd be a hoot!
The ensuing sequel to Battlefield Earth would be a double hoot!
Ya-Allah! :p

Of course you could say a similar thiing about science...if the scientific method was forever halted, the world wouldn't stop spinning either.
Religion works for me, I enjoy mine. I wouldn't like it if the freedom to practice religion was taken away.

That makes absolutely no sense. Islam has been synonymous with terrorism throughout America since 9-11, and this predjudice has enthralled the majority. No one in their right mind is going to be a willing terrorist.
