Some of you might have picked up that Im in the Territorial Army, the British equivalent of the US's National Guard.
Anyway, its been over six months since I last picked up a rifle and froze my arse off in a Sussex puddle. In fact Im thinking of putting in for a discharge. The reasons for this are many but foremost is the disgust I feel at the penny pinching attitude of the Ministry of Defence.
I have been pretty torn-up about this, not quite knowing what to do as I do (did) really enjoy being a soldier. Anyway, I was astonished to find that Colonel Tim Collins ("If you are ferocious in battle remember to be magnanimous in victory"), feels the same and has tendered his resignation:

Some quotes:
Colonel Tim Collins believes the Army is in danger of being "a glorified Home Guard" because of underfunding and bureaucracy he told the Mail on Sunday.
Mrs Collins also said her husband was concerned by political correctness in the Army and "the refusal of politicians who send British soldiers to war to give them enough money to do their job".
I wonder if any other prominent or high-ranking officers will come forward with the same view?
