View Full Version : Last Minute Idea: TAM2 Eyewitness Account
Chaos

Hi!
So far, I´ve had several accounts from friends and family to "tell us everything that happened" when I´m back from TAM2. (Especially describing the skepchicks :) )
I´ve decided to take lots of notes, and it came to my mind: why not start a (semi-official) journal of TAM2? That way, those of us that can´t make it will at least have something from TAM2. Maybe it could even be put online on the web-site - might make good publicity for TAM3...
So then...is there anyone else who wants to join me with writing a "TAM2 Eyewitness Account"? First and foremost, I´ve thought about the JREF Writers´ Group, or those of us who attend TAM2, but of course, everybody else will be welcome, too.
Anybody interested?

I can't bring my digital camcorder, but someone (several) ought to...not just for the talks, but for the journal.

Notes would be fabulously appreciated by those of us who cannot attend (boo hoo).

I'm bringing my Palm PDA and my laptop. So, I can write during the conference and at night.
So, I volunteer! Where should we start the thread?

and don't forget to get nice pics of skepchicks in PJs. Or just some skepchick's together (let's pre approve these please????)
If we can't have a skepchick calendar, we could make up a little one with just a group pic?

Yes, I'm also bringing a digital camera along with my laptop. So, we are all covered for pictures.
We can actually work on the Skepchick Calendar next year since I've secured employment at a place that can produce these for me. :)

Good idea, Chaos.
I'll have my laptop, too, and will submit any good stories I come across.

G6 Um...you gonna need any help lugging all that stuff around?

I am not worried because Girl 6 is in charge and I trust Old Europe's delegation --Chaos and exarch.
If we had to depend on Mercutios, Nozed Avengers et ceteri homini who will do nothing but babbling after the girls we wouldn't learn anything from TAM...

I am toying with the idea of starting a fake news from TAM2 thread in the humor section. It would be for posting absurd stories about what did not happen just to entertain those that are not attending.

Seconded!
In fact, we could do both "officially"...

It wouldn't be a Tungsten, would it? I'm in Las Vegas and my cradle is in Los Angeles, or maybe San Diego, or ...
I would really like to be able to charge the battery.
Help!

Is it just me, or does this sound like a good trick for getting into G6's hotel room?

Sounds like a plan. Are you going to TAM? I will be there, but I have not made up my mind about bringing a laptop along...I need to get a new one since my old ones are a bit beat up and not fully functional anymore.

I even have a new camera. :)

Several of us did reviews of TAM which are availible from the earlier threads in this forum.
I plan on taking notes as the meeting progresses and might do a review for the North Texas Skeptics newsletter. I also plan on being more involved and should have more photos to share this time around.

I did pick up a new laptop last night.
I plan writing the eye-witless accounts in the humor forum. They will come with a disclaimer, since very little of it will be true. But they will be “based on a true story”.

I have warned my colleagues at work not to believe anything they read, and especially not to believe any pictures they might see. Now all I need to do is disable Mrs. Mercutio's computer, and I'm good to go....

G6 You should have a (semi-serious) look at the story behind the recent UK film Calendar Girls. Leukaemia research could do with a boost (click on Calendar Girls in the index) (http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/lrf-/fundraising/index.htm)...if the skepchicks are game!
