anthropomorphic chauvinism.
Human arrogance.
Do dolphins, or even some yet to be discovered intelligent life, need to accept Christ into their hearts to be saved?
Or, are they allowed an alternative mythology, more suited to their form?
Or, worse yet:
Is the whole "God" thing exclusive to humans?
Is it innate in religion to default to the crown-of-creation status of man, and the rest of the gang is pretty much irrelevant?
(I left the Catholic church when the nuns assured me that my dog wasn't getting in to heaven. Yes, this is sort of immature. Yet, to this day, the love of dog to human is as pure as i've experienced.)
I would probably be a theist today if we were allowed to have a non-human icon. Preferably without the crucifixion.
My beef with family members that love Jesus is this:
Jesus is all that they love.
They hate insects, for instance.
Even the good ones.
