Even though we have relatively tight gun laws in Australia, it still does not prevent the sort of horrendous crimes that are perpetuated in the US. We even have our own sniper, a lá Washington Sniper.

Man charged over Sydney sniper shootings (http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1024942.htm)

Police have charged a 36-year-old man over a series of airgun shootings in Sydney's south-west.

Eight people reported being hit by pellets from an air rifle in the Fairfield area on the weekend.

No-one was seriously hurt.

Gosh, this sort of thing would never happen if only we had an NRA-style lobby group fighting for our freedom.

If I wanted to visit a country, I would follow that country's rules for visitation...

well, air rifle or not, this doofus did 12 random drive-by shootings in 2 hours.

Lead pellets imbedded in the skull do a little more than "sting" Ed. This was not a BB toy gun The pellets pierced skin and were lodged in muscle and bones requiring surgery to remove them. A Someone has been arrested and refused bail pending trial. I suspect he will do serious time for this which is what he deserves if he is guilty, this sort of thing is not popular here.

Whereas, in Florida, some total creep took a full-blooded shot with a real gun at one of our own (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33771). Bet it didn't even make the evening news...

Not, of course, that we're asking for any conclusions to be drawn from this. That would be using anecdotal evidence, and nice people don't do that. :D
