It's running for less than 48 hours, so get in quick. Rooms for $45 per night during TAM.

I just booked my room. $250 Canadian for Wed. through Monday. Not bad at all.
Anyone have advice on the cheapest way to fly from Toronto to Las Vegas? $650 seems a wee bit steep...

If you drive across the border into Buffalo, you can fly Southwest for $400 plus tax.

Good point. The question though: how brutal are these taxes? Is it really worth the drive and the hassle?

The price actually went down a little bit. $400.40 including taxes, and you get two free check-on baga.

I think I have it all planned out now, but haven't bought yet; not until I've already put the TAM registration itself through my CC... I booked the Tuesday through Tuesday; at $40 a night, I'll take a couple days and get out of the hotel for a bit.
I've been looking at Airtran out of Buffalo as the best price so far - $130-170 for a one way. Take Greyhound or Via or Megabus for (at most) $40 round trip from downtown TO to Buffalo Airport, and save $2-400...
For the price of a bad coach ticket from TO, it would be a small step up to a full fare business class on Airtran.

I love Airtran for the cheaper upgrade to business. It was a lot nicer years ago when it was just $25, but whatever. I've always had great flights with Airtran. Smooth take-offs and landings, usually smooth flights, and always on time.

I had never heard of Airtran before (since they don't fly out of Canada). Thanks, mate! You've just saved me some money. A ride to Buffalo is arranged, my hotel room is booked, and I'm finally going to TAM!

My boss hasn't approved my time off (yet) for TAM although he supports critical thinking and likes the idea that I go every year. I probably won't know till May-ish so I can't plan right now.

They were ValueJet until they had a somewhat unfortunate accident in Florida. However, I flew Airtran a few years ago to a ham conference and they seemed to have their act together. Decent prices too, as you've noted. There is also a huge advantage in avoiding security hassles by not flying across international borders.
