A few days ago I stumbled across the website of a band names 'Acid Rain', from Spain. They're a progressive band and they're pretty good considering they're not 'professionals'. But the thing that struck me most is that they made the album ENTIRELY on their own with no help from external inlfluences (they didn't even use a recording studio). Then they loaded it onto the web and you can download it all for free. I think that's truly amazing! THAT is wat music should be about - they didn't make their music for money, they did it because the love it. I admit they may not be to everybody's taste but personally I think they're excellent and the added satisfaction of listening to music that was literally made by the people for the love of it just makes it even better. The site is http://www.acidrainsite.com
What are your opinions on bands promoting music in this way (giving it away for free)?

It's an unfortunate fact of life for progressive rock bands that there are very limited means to get heard. Radio stations will not play them. Music journals will not review them. Personally, I use the preview services at artist-shop.com and prog stations at live365.com in order to hear new prog bands.

I'll check these guys out.
