I'm sorry if this is duplicative.
Someone listen to "The Hockey Song" on Warren's almost last album "My Ride's Here" written with (local Detroit "sports" writer...also did "Tuesdays with Morrie" )Mitch Albom, and featuring David Letterman on guest "vocal": "hit somebody"......and let me know if you think its not the greatest (hockey) song ever written (and a great potential movie).....
this is as good an obit as you can get...http://espn.go.com/page2/s/thompson/030908.html
..written by the good doctor quite some time before Warren's demise.....I apologise to everyone and no one for this maudling whatever you call it.......oh yeah, eulogy....

I say the best thing is to enjoy his music, mainly. I'm sure he'll have bridges and streets named after him, but given his dark irony and sense of humor, I doubt he would have cared much for such material tributes.

I cry everytime I hear "keep me in your heart"

Man, I'm tearing up just writing this.

Unfortunately, I only heard of Warren Zevon very recently, but I've been listening to "Genius" (his last? best-of album) ever since. Great stuff, reminds me a bit of Talking Heads :)
