I'm going to add both directional alternatives.

You don't have to explain, I'm just curious what people have to say here.

I felt that the weapons didn't exist, still don't.
And the other cover, building a democracy.
Well... HA! HA! HA! :D

I wish the "thought so, still do" voter would post why he chose that.

Was that you jj?

I thought he probably had something, at least one weapon that qualified. But I was never convinced that our leadership ever really knew what or where or even if.

And now it seems kind of hard to believe they ever really knew what they said they knew... were they buying into bunk intelligence, wishful thinking themselves along?

The whole fiasco, and let's call it what it is, (it's like Geraldo's Vault... W's WMDs...) has left me shaken about our safety.

Voted "thought they might be there, now I don't". As far as I know no evidence has emerged that the intelligence community had convincing information that there was a significant threat, i.e. a substantial production programme plus the ability to use the weapons.

Hey, two more "thought so, still do" votes.

Could somebody get off their butt that punches that option and explain why you think that?

I suppose it's possible in any poll a few people hit the wrong button by accident or just feel sorry for the minority position so they vote for the neglected choice. Is that it?

Maybe the Bush administration has got a few folks who have anonymously signed on to this forum to promote their position to head off the mass of bad publicity from a JREF poll that goes against them or maybe Ashcroft has hacked into JREF and is just bumping that choice to test his new toys that came with the Patriot act.
