Previously, if you'd right-click on a link and select "Open link in new tab," the tab would appear at the far right side of the bar. Now the new tab appears to the right of the current tab.

I hate this.

Is there any way to change it back?

I had just discovered that myself. But although it took me by surprise briefly I don't think it's a bad idea, now that I'm expecting it.

Normally I try not to keep too many tabs going simultaneously, just on principle. If I can't see them all on the screen at once I tend to start looking for ones to shut down. On occasion, though, if I'm busy researching something I may have many open at the same time, and this addresses the problem of new ones opening where I can't see them.

I think I'm cool with the change.

I figured I'd get used to it, that I might even like it, but it hasn't happened. I like knowing where root tabs are.

I know what you mean.

You made me think of this. I wonder if there's a plug-in that lets you select features for tabs, like colors, for example. This would address that problem.

MS One-Note did that (or something like it) for documents on a tablet computer I had at work, and it helped a lot in keeping up with locating pages.

Cool. Thanks.

Thanks even more for the site itself. I've known that there was plenty under the hood of Firefox that I hadn't looked into. This seems to be a good place to poke around and learn.

Another solution - the Tab Mix Plus add-on. It gives tons of options on the appearance and function of tabs.
I prefer it's session handling to what Firefox had although I have not tried Firefox's native session recently.

https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/cphecfdoadllhaidhnemjopkbdoldhgp <- extension that does the same for chrome. Since i asked the question i might as well provide the solution.

Anyone having trouble with timing out and logging in? I just upgraded and I get a time out almost every time I post and when I log in it takes 2 times.

The instant a new tab showed up next to my existing tab, I said to myself, "Wow. What a smart change. Wonder why I didn't think of that."
