View Full Version : Why people who use Strawman Arguments Are Annoying
a_unique_person

They just sit there, at their keyboard, wondering what they can do to annoy the people out there in cyberspace. When they should be out there doing honest work, they are just loafing around on their government subsidised @ss, delighting in annoying people.
These strawman builders like to change lanes without indicating also, just to annoy everyone else on the road, and they don't believe in basic freedoms or morality. In fact, I have heard it said that many are moral relativists.
I intend to report any more posts from such people to the moderators.

And changing lanes without indicating itself indicates a rejection of western traditions of the rule of law. These people would obviously like to see all law inforcement agents dead....

Strawman arguements can be funny and entertaining. As long as someone's arguement isn't completely based on a strawman, then it is perfectly fine for an internet forum.
Let your hair down, relax, attack the strawman, and remember to have something real.

No more evidence than I can provide in proving you are not a gopher sodomizing neo-nazi that sees racism in every post.;)

See, son? I said I couldn't prove that you do in every post. Even if in every post you try to do so.:p Or do you have evidence of the pope's dope smoking? I merely said I had no more evidence of that than I do of your posts finding racist comments in all other posts. Now you gotta go and add stipulations?
You're not a complete idiot, Fool. I'm sure parts are missing.;)

I agree. Always think of the children. I find they are particualry of importance to my attention when aiming at them. They tend to move more than adults;)

Attempts at humour or collegial good-natured joshing and bantering amongst posters are not appreciated in the P&CE forum.
I have reported this thread to the immoderaters.

I really hate the overuse of the word "strawman". Some people must have "strawman" as an auto reply.

Well, either it was a confession, or it wasn't. If it wasn't, you're guilty because you won't admit it!

Are they any more aggravating than those who constantly use argumentum ad populate or any of the dozens of other fallacies?
How about those who post flame threads in other areas? How about the use of a strawman argument to protest the use of strawman arguments?
I'm going to report every use of the word strawman I see to moderators. It's an insult to farmers everywhere.
BTW, strawman isn't even a word, it's two words; straw man.

You know that guy at every party who dances the same stupid step to every song, regardless of tempo?
Fool has successfully translated that phenomenon to the internet. I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

I see you are against PBS educational programming. It figures that someone as anti-education as yourself would think this way. I hope you're happy, Mr. All-Children-Left-Behind.

Its attitudes like yours that killed millions under Stalin.
They laughed at George Carlin, too. Quite a bit, in fact.

So my attitude led to Stalin killing millions for laughing at Carlin? That sounds like a Dennis Miller rant.
