Apparently, Ahmadinejad has written to Ban Ki-Moon and asked the UN to investigate 9/11.

But, the news source is AFP which says that Iranian state news has reported this but I can't find any mention of it. Can anyone help out?

http://angrysoba.blogspot.com/2010/04/unbelievable.html

Actually, I quite hope that the UN do investigate 9/11. The Truthers will start having to create mega-sized conspiracies when the UN conclude 19 guys flew planes into buildings.

BBC are saying Ahmedinejad wants the Iraq and Afghanistan wars investigated. No mention of 9/11 or twoof.

From the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/12/AR2010041202972.html

In a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Ahmadinejad also called for an investigation into the September 11 attacks on the United States which he said was "used as a pretext for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq."

Mr. Secretary General, please form an exploratory committee into the events of September 11, 2001. Please research the collective works of Richard Gage, Steven Jones, David R. Griffin, Dylan Avery, Sophia Shafquat and Judy Wood. Once the investigative body has reached its conclusion, say around 45 minutes plus an additional 30 minutes to regain its composure from all the laughter, please begin an investigation into the last Iranian Government's General Election. Let the Israelis conduct it for the lulz.

Thank you.

Sincerely

No mention of 9/11 at Bloomberg's Business Week:

Here's a report from the Iranian Student's News Agency:

http://www.isna.ir/ISNA/NewsView.aspx?ID=News-1518267&Lang=E

TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the UN Chief Ban Ki-moon to appoint a fact-finding committee on major elements behind September 11 attack.

“At least, you are expected to form an independent fact-finding committee trusted by regional countries on major elements behind September 11 attack which was carried out as the main pretext to attack the Middle East,” Ahmadinejad said in his letter to Ban Ki-moon.

Oh, I must clarify. There are two AFPs. Both are related with press, but there's one right-wing neonazi thing called "American Free Press" full of twoofiness and one more respectable called "Agence France Presse" and is one of the main providers of news in France, like Reuters.

Hope I could help.

Here's the AFP (Agence France Presse) article:

I'm not particularly keen to look for any American Free Press articles. ;)

Ha ha, yes I know.

One of them is an offshoot of the Spotlight and set up by raging anti-semite, neo-Nazi, white supremacist and all-round bad egg, Willis Carto, with contributions from intrepid Bilderberg-botherer, Jim Tucker.

This AFP I am quoting from is most definitely not that one, I am pretty sure.

I meant could anyone help me to find any sources from the Iranian news agencies that AFP says it is getting its information from.

Thanks.

Someone on Infowars has already predicted it:

Unfortunately, the U.N. will make no REAL investigation into 9/11. The U.N. is just a tool for the same bankers that conducted the attack in the first place. If the U.N. does investigate 9/11, the conclusion will be,”Iran did it,” and all the truth deniers will just say,”See I knew it was them Iranians.

:big: Good old infowars - always good for a laugh.

I don't see Ahmadinejad saying that in this 'full text' of the letter from the same source:

http://www.isna.ir/ISNA/NewsView.aspx?ID=News-1518940&Lang=E

They must have combined these two sections:

"Following September 11 attacks, and on the pretext of fighting against a number of terrorist operatives, more than a million people in our region have been victimized and a few more millions been displaced, two members of the United Nations have been occupied by NATO and U.S. military forces, and a third country is susceptible to military aggressions."

"Excellency, you are at least expected to appoint an independent fact-finding team which is trusted by the countries of the region, to launch a comprehensive investigation into the main intentions of NATO military presence in Afghanistan and Iraq, the methods used, and the outcome of their presence and engagement, with results to be presented to the General Assembly."

Don't be too hard on yourself. Agence France Press is quite a respectable news outlet.

I thought the rule around here was for people to refuse to help each other find sources. I know when I asked if anyone knew the name of the FBI agent who headed the Shanksville investigation, a name which I have never been able to find, posters told me to go pound sand.

However, I've always looked upon posting as a way to increase the base of information, so in response to your query, here's an article from France24 (say, "Fronce van quattre"):

http://www.france24.com/en/20100412-ahmadinejad-urges-ban-probe-911-attacks

Hey Lurkers, calling all lurkers:

Are any of you affiliated with any UN agencies and/or accredited NGO's such that you have access to UN information? If so, please post up any developments you might see relating to the processing of the Iran request.

As Iran is a member state of the UN, in good standing; and, as Iran is considered to be a regional "power" within the UN system, requests by Iran for action within the UN system, particularly within the General Assembly part of it, are always taken seriously.

However, as is known, the weakness of the UN system is that its functioning is dominated by the Security Council, not the larger and more inclusive General Assembly. It is highly likely, to the point of well nigh certainty, that the SC, led by the permanent 5 (P5) members of the SC, which P5 is itself dominated by a weakened, but still residually potent, USA, will do all it can to thwart and sidetrack a UN-based 9/11 investigation. On the sidelines, however, signficant action may occur.

So, once again lurkers, if any of you have anything of substance you can add, it is very clear this thread needs the help. Otherwise, the thread will just descend into stupid propaganda, banter or worse.

Please help.

Thanks Jammonius,

I was actually requesting a link to an Iranian source rather than the AFP source that you linked to as I already had that one.

Orph helped me out with that one, but thanks anyway Jammonius.

Cheers,

Angrysoba

Also, I don't know of any rule about not providing links to others.

It has been my experience here that people have usually been very helpful. Do you have a link to any threads in which you requested assistance?

I am afraid I don't know the name of the head of the FBI investigation of Shanksville but if I do stumble upon it I will try and provide you a link.

Cheers,

Angrysoba
