A noted evangelical Old Testament scholar resigned from his faculty position at a seminary in the wake of a controversy over his public acceptance of evolution. On March 24, 2010, a video featuring Bruce Waltke, Professor of Old Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary, was posted on the website of the BioLogos Foundation. (Founded by Francis Collins, the BioLogos Foundation "explores, promotes, and celebrates the integration of science and Christian faith.") Entitled "Why Must the Church Come to Accept Evolution?" the video discussed "the danger that the Church will face if it does not engage with the world around it, in particular by acknowledging the overwhelming amount of data in support of biological evolution, which many evangelicals still reject."

Why are you surprised? This is religion we're talking about. Logic has nothing to do with it. Evidence has nothing to do with it. If it's in the bible, then it's true. No amount of evidence will make them change.

It's a reference to the Ben Stein movie, Expelled, much embraced by enemies of logic and science. A big part of the film was the assertion that the evil liberal elite try to silence the brave, truth-seeking ID proponents by forcing them out of academic positions for their views (even though he doesn't support this assertion very well at all)

I love how they (these creationist boobs) play the victim card with the huge "Expelled" propoganda campaign, and then they turn around and blatantly take part in the very kind of discrimination they were once decrying - kicking out an evangelical scholar for publicly accepting evolution even after his institution says it "welcomes all views." It's almost as if, in their twisted worldview, that they believe everyone thinks like them - so the ends justify the means. How moral is that?

This seems a general property of woo merchants; they justify their own immoral behaviour by fantasising that it exists in others, and then citing it as the provocation for their own. If you abandon critical self-examination, any behaviour can be rationalised simply by making up the evidence required.
