Ah, New York politics!

Some images on the below link NSFW!)

"[Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl] Paladino purports to be the values candidate, but what will values voters say when they discover that he enjoys sending hardcore pornographic and racist emails around town?" (http://wnymedia.net/paladino/)

I don't have the quote handy, but shortly after the story broke, Mr. Paladino blamed the fuss on an effort by liberals to bring him down.

Yes. Of course it is. But thanks for helping us out!

ETA: I see in the story linked directly above very similar words from the man.

I agree with the Buffalo Journalist who stated that Paladino deserves a place in the Guiness book of World Records for quickest Self Destruction by a Politician.
And, once again, we have the "I'm like Howard Beale" meme ( a gimmick stolen from Glenn Beck),ignoring that Beale in classic 1976 movie is clearly portrayed as a demented loon, who occasionial glimpses of the truth is outweighed by his insanity.

With 22% reporting (http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/news/scoreboard.php?ref=fpblg), Paladino has 69% of the vote! :jaw-dropp

Wow... this guy must really be awesome at fiscal conservatism and small government because even though he was caught sending explicitly racist e-mails (http://www.buffalonews.com/city/article42874.ece) the Tea Party is still turning out to vote for him.

And everyone knows the Tea Party will not tolerate racism of any sort.

how the **** did Lazio lose to this guy?

We're discussing a Republican candidate here. Since when did being a pervert outweigh the ability to toe the party line?

(Consider David "Diapers" Vitter.)

Let's face it, the GOP candidate for Gov in NY, whether Lazio or Pallardo, has as much chance of winning as a snowball in hell.

Maybe so, but Paladino is going to make it an interesting race. He's already called Pataki a degenerate and said state Assembly head Sheldon Silver should be in Attica. He's got a lot of money and no problem with hypocrisy (railing against government spending, but making a fortune off of it.)

His biggest problem of course is NYC. He will need to win by huge numbers upstate in order to offset Cuomo in NYC.
