View Full Version : Shaking babies doesn't hurt them...vaccines do!

There is a listing in my local telephone book which says "Vaccination Information Service". When people ring this number under the misapprehension that there will be someone there who can provide useful information they get to talk to Bronwyn Hancock, possibly the most egregious of Australia's anti-vaccination liars. This is the woman who told me that it is impossible to harm a baby by shaking it. I will repeat that. She says that it is impossible to harm a baby by shaking it. She has challenged me to provide scientific evidence that shaking can hurt a child.

I knew Peter Bowditch of Ratbags.com would mention the woman who claims that shaking doesn't kill babies, vaccines do... I think it's also an organization that supports that guy who was in jail, for shaking his kid to death. They're also blaming vaccines on his death... anyway... Bronwyn Hancock is her name... Eos of the Eons... have fun... http://www.ratbags.com/rsoles/

Don't shake your (or anyone else's) baby!

Edited to add: not that you would, Suez

Does that mean I can't use baby powder anymore, either? You have to shake that.

I guess it is okay; I used to do that regularly any time I would get a fresh booty. Now I find it is safer to wait until I put some distance between myself and those that I plundered/pillaged before I shake the booty.

Well, they've already dried out and ground up The baby, I don't see how shaking it could make things any worse,

ah ha! So Bronwyn Hancock was right! Shaking can't hurt a baby (if it's already dried up and ground to powder)

Damn! Well, I guess it's a good thing I checked here before I started.

I was all set to conduct the conslusive experiment. I raided the day-care center at my office building. I had a Vaccine group, a control group, and a shaking group. And the Home Depot nearby lent me their paint mixer for the afternoon.

Shaking your booty. Ok.
Shaking your baby. Not Ok.
Shaking your baby's booties. Ok provided your baby is not currently in them - a little weird maybe, but Ok.
Being all shook up by your baby. Ok if you are Elvis.

Got it? :p

Geeze, that's the last time I knee-jerk post around here :D

I just can't imagine that people would shake their babies (not something that crossed my mind until I held my first--all helpless and small--in my hands for the first time).

What get's into people?

I certainly didn't mean to preach. :o

Well actually the assertion that Bronwyn makes is that shaking babies doesn't hurt them, but vaccines cause damage such as brain injury, broken bones, etc.
