Imagine Obama gave a press conference on the BP oil leak in the rose garden. He talks eloquently about the need for the cleanup, the desire the American people have for justice, furrowing his brow as he talks about the upcoming legislation. He opens it up for questions, and as the white house correspondent from USA today stands up, Obama reaches into his fine black blazer and pulls out a packet of lucky strikes, placing one in his mouth, before preceding to light up. He continues smoking throughout the press conference. What happens to Obama in the coming hours, weeks, months? Alternatively, Obama is about to give a press conference on the recent terrorist attack. He comes out in eccentric clown makeup, big floppy red shoes, honking his handheld horn throughout?

I'd be happy if he just quit beating on the podium while he's talking. When you hear him speak on the radio it sounds like the muffled bass coming from a crappy car with too many speakers in it.

I heartily endorse his right to smoke outdoors. However, he is a smart enough public speaker not to pull a stunt like that. Grammar Nazi note: Lucky Strike ought to be capitalized, it is a brand name. ;) LS/MFT

You mean Nancy Pelosi, right? ;D

Would he be impeaced?

Would he be impeaced?

For what?

And why is BP drilling for oil in the Rose garden at the White House?

No. Dressing as a clown is neither a high crime, nor a misdemeanor, unless one is the fashion police.

I suspect PWD, Walrus. Many Happy Returns! :D

If he smoked, I'd respect him more. It shows he doesn't give a crap what people think.

I'd love it if he came out in a Batman suit.

If he smoked there'd be nonny-nonnying.

And, can we re-elect a man who's so weak-willed he can't quit smoking?

happy birthday! :D

Would he be impeaced?

For the smoking, I doubt it. Not illegal AFAIK. The clown shoes and horn, I would guess some kind of action would likely be taken since that would raise concerns about his sanity, but I don't think it would be impeachment.

Now, if he calls a press conference to "deal with the issues about his birth certificate once and for all", invites birthers, shows up as "Barackpool" (Deadpool), says "Hi. I'm a Marvel."and then shoots the birther in the face proclaiming "and boom goes the dynamite. Barackpool WINS!", reveals the birthers to be actors, and explains "Well, I figured we should have fun with the stupid."... THAT would be awesome!

Just because someone smokes doesn't mean they want to quit.

Let's not, and let SNL say we did, and provide proof.

He wouldn't be impeached but I bet there would be some people (birther types) that would call for his impeachment. Why? Well I think it is illegal to smoke on Federal property, so there you go.
As far as dressed as a clown, not impeachable, but I would want to squeeze the wheeze (I Think we are all Bozos on this Bus)

I would vote for him so hard, he'd win the next ten elections. Some even postumously, maybe.

What would realistically happen after clown suit-gate? Would it be top item on the news for weeks, inquests?

I'm not sure Nancy Pelosi would be much less impressive in a clown costume. For her, just opening her mouth pretty much has the same effect.

I think a high crime or misdemeanor is anything that a majority of the House and two thirds of the senate agree is a high crime or misdemeanor. The Republicans learned this the hard way when they couldn't get two thirds of the Senate to agree that committing perjury about a blow job qualified.

Biden would decide that this was his big opportunity. He would invoke the 25th amendment, and try to convince Congress that Obama was off his rocker. He would fail, because enough people in Congress would realize that even off his rocker, Obama wouldn't be as bad as Biden.

Damn, I thought this was going to be about what if Obama blew up an oil rig in the British North Sea in retaliation for the BP rig blowing up off Louisiana.

Anyway, IMHO Lucky Strikes would make huge gains in market share.
