By accident I found an announcement that James Randi will be giving a lecture "The Sleep of Reason", organized by the Dutch skeptical society. Apparently, it's part of a European tour - I couldn't find any info on this site, though, about his speaking schedule.
This page (http://www.skepsis.nl/james-randi-in-utrecht.html) contains some background info (in Dutch).
This page (http://www.skepsis.nl/blog/james-randi-in-utrecht/) contains the details of time and venue, plus a form to get tickets. The fee is 10 euro, and there are still seats. There's also a second lecture hall with a video feed, for which admittance is free.

Oh no! Tickets are sold out. I would have loved to be there...

Hopefully there will be a DVD of this lecture to purchase, or an online video somewhere, for those of us who can't make it.

@George, come along to watch the video feed, there will probably be some tickets on the door (I will probably have a spare one myself).

Where was this "tour" publicised? I just saw on the front page he's been in Finland - why no advanced notice?

And where else will he be going? I'd hate to miss it ...

GD!
That'll teach me not to come to this subforum or the Skepsis site as much.
Utrecht is doable, I'll try.

That's means that one of my lifetime heroes is less than 30 km away from me....
Stalking hat on!

I e-mailed Jeff and asked if it wouldn't be possible to advertise more details of the tour. Needless to say, I also offered to help stalk Randi if needed.

So, dropped everything yesterday. Got home ASAP, got the bike out of storage and told wifeydear to put the kids to bed on her own.
After dinner rode to Utrecht and found the building. Because I didn't have a ticket, I was sent to a video room. There was 1 person there.
After a while his buddy came in, then we where 3. Luckily, there was one ticket left, and they let me have it. So paid the price (well, wanted to, but they didn't have change, so only half :)).
Went to the right room, and who did I nearly bump into? Mr. Randi himself. Just like that, in the wild. I didn't know they let him out by himself. Isn't that dangerous? You never know what he might debunk....
Anywho, I had to sit way at the back, but it was brilliant.
After the show I got my one and only celebrity photograph, autograph and handshake (I don't care about that sort of thing).
Mr. Randi and Brandon where very kind, and it was a great evening.
Here some pictures taken with my crappy camera phone (I forgot my camera).

So overall: *where is the bloody dancing banana smilie when you need it? *

Well it was a great evening, only surpassed by the previous evening, when I and 12 other members of the Dutch Skeptic Society had dinner with Randi in Utrecht, accompanied by a stream of anecdotes and magic tricks! Here are a couple of photos.

Thank you, and thank you for the PN alerting me of the post as well. Unfortunately, I'm but a humbler German from Munich, of all places.
