Paul Backs Out Of Meet The Press Appearance (http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/05/paul-backs-out-of-meet-the-press-appearance.php)

He belatedly realized that he needs to follow Sarah Palin's example and avoid the Librul Media like the plague so he doesn't have to answer any more awkward questions.

Rand Paul In '08: Beware The NAFTA Superhighway! (http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/05/rand_paul_beware_the_nafta_superhighway_video.php)

If he believed in the The NAFTA Superhighway I wonder if he also believed in the FEMA Death Camps?

It's a shame we probably won't find out because his handlers have realized he can't answer simple questions without hurting himself.

I love Sarah Palin...because she is a bigmouth idiot.

And now, I love Rand Paul...because HE is a bigmouth idiot.

Truly, a dymanic duo of idiocy. Truly a gift from God..to the Democratic Party.

When I clicked on this thread, I had to seriously prepare for a Rand Paul gay scandal, in case "takes a page" meant the human errand boy kind of page.

I was already prepared for a bowl of mixed nuts. That's what it turned out to be.

What you want to bet that Dr. Paul turns up on Fox News in 5.. 4.. 3.. 2..

It'll be a valiant rescue attempt.. Let's see if Murdoch and Ailes can put Rand Paul back together again. I bet he starts with Palin's snuggle-bunny: van Susteren

Rand Paul, hero of the Tea Party..

is a coward.
They aren't asking "gotcha" questions, just questions to clarify what he's said in the past. His strange, sometimes Libertarian and sometimes RR views are getting him into lots of trouble, politically. He's realized that the more people learn about his nuttiness, the more people don't want to ingest his BS.

I'm confused by a libertarian who doesn't agree that pot should be legal and gay people shouldn't have equal rights.

let me get this straight: Rand Paul claims to be a Libertarian but he does not believe in the decriminalization of marijuana..or same-sex marriage..or abortion rights?

what kind of Libertarian is that????

Huh. I thought I read somewhere that he favored legalization.

Here it says (http://www.opposingviews.com/i/medical-marijuana-support-helps-rand-paul-to-victory) that he favors legalizing medical marijuana, which for Kentucky is a libertarian position I think. It's the standard first step. The thin end of the wedge or the camel's nose under the tent.

I haven't read anything about his positions on gay rights.

Truly, a dymanic duo of idiocy. Truly a gift from God..to the Democratic Party.Looks like Obama is becoming one of the GOPs greatest gifts as well with GOP winning the House seat in Obama's home district and all the other candidates Obama has campaigned for loosing. Smart Dem candidates are distancing themselves much as the GOP ones did when Bushes ratings tanked.

Facts without context are convenient things. For instance, the context of that House election in Hawaii is a 3-way race with 2 Democrats and 1 Republican.

Truly, a dymanic duo of idiocy. Truly a gift from God..to the Democratic Party. How can one not love a gift that keeps on giving (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/23/palin-rand-paul-learning-like/)...? One thing that we can learn in this lesson that I have learned and Rand Paul is learning now is don't assume that you can engage in a hypothetical discussion about constitutional impacts with a reporter or a media personality who has an agenda, who may be prejudiced before they even get into the interview in regards to what your answer may be -- and then the opportunity that they seize to get you

The thing I love about this controversy is that Rand Paul and Rachel Maddow have conspired unintentionally to discredit libertarianism. She, by repeatedly asking a simple yes-or-no question about his political philosophy, and he, by refusing to answer it. He has proclaimed through this action that he can neither admit to nor repudiate his own beliefs.

That's what it comes down to for libertarianism when questioned about the basic implications of the theory put into practice -- it cannot be admitted to in public. How embarrassing.

It sounds like a Palin-Rand campaign in 2012 would be great entertainment for the rest of the world. :D

go on a news interview again.

That would be very selfish of him to deprive the American people of entertainment.

Amigo, the image of them two in a girl on girl event nearly cost me my breakfast.

Easy on the foul images, if ya please.

Ah, the philosophy of personal responsibility; if you say something stupid, it's the media's fault.

What famous movie character comes to mind when thinking of Rand Paul?

For me, it's Sir Robin from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

He's in good company.

Only two other people have canceled appearances on "Meet the Press": Louis Farrakhan and Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/21/AR2010052105327.html)
