Christopher Hitchens once memorably claimed that Osama choose 9/11 because this (apparently with a bit of fudging) was the date that the Turks were defeated at the Gates of Vienna.

What Mr Hitchens is unaware is that we Illuminati are fans of the Julian Calendar, rejecting the Gregorian Calendar as the poisoned fruit of the Catholic counter-reformation that it most surely is.
Which means 9/11 is really 29 August. Actually Christopher "Martini" Hitchens would be pleased to know there are actually a number of Ottoman candidates of 29 August in the pre-Gregorian era...
