And of course Scotland's co-efficient is lower than it would be due to having had no minnow in either of the last two qualifying groups, which means they may end up in a lower pot than they should and therefore have to play better teams. For in UEFA's wisdom while they adjust for group size in determining best runners up, they make no adjustment for group size when calculating co-efficients
look like i missed a bit of information when i was looking at the points scored by each team in the qualifying groups . i hold up my hand and say i got that wrong . it is not the football that triped me up it seems that simple mathematics caught me out this time .

To be fair, it is possible (depending on semi final results) that our qualifying groups for Euro 2008, WC 2010 and Euro 2012 will have contained all four finalists from the last two world cups (France and Italy in our Euro 2008 qualifying group, Netherlands in our WC 2010 group and Spain in our 2012). A touch of luck with the draws seems overdue.
And so it comes to pass. Holland (in our WC 2010 qualifying group) v Spain (in our Euro 2012 qualifying group) in the WC final.
This may be a method of predicting results as accurate as Paul the Psychic Octopus.
