I'm sticking around to check out Vegas until the 15th. Anyone else got plans to be about?

I'm arriving on the 7th. I will watch the 2nd World Cup semi-final in the morning, then volunteer in the afternoon. Dinner & bar at night. Not sure what I'm doing Thursday, probably visit the strip. Reception Thur night. Friday & Saturday, I will attend TAM 8. Sunday, I will listen to some of the papers, then watch the World Cup final at 11:30. Probably relax Sunday afternoon and evening, then leave Monday morning.

I have now posted my TAM plan, as instructed.

I'll be leaving Vegas on Tuesday the 13th at insane AM (that just a bit earlier than crazy-time in the morning, but later than party-time).
Still, way too early for my taste.

So for me, "post TAM" will consist of Monday.

On the plus side, leaving at a godawful early hour means the lines for security will be short(er).

I have purchased tickets for the P&T show for Weds, so if people are going to split cabs/carpool I am willing to go dutch/contribute. I plan on hanging around after the show a little bit because I will have a git for Penn Gillette, a copy of a book I helped research (in a small way) about his friend Glenn Beck, "Common Nonsense" by Alex Zaitchik. Don't know if that will affect transportation plans.

I also have tickets for Lance Burton on Tuesday July 6th, if other people are interested in splitting cabs/carpooling. I may buy tickets for other shows. I will be in Vegas from the afternoon of July 6th to the morning of July 14th, if other people are interested in going to the Grand Canyon/Lake Mead, or just bumming around the strip.

You might want to look into that. If I am not mistaken, P&T have cancelled that show.

I messed up. I am going to watch P&T on Tuesday, July 6th and Lance Burton on Weds. Sorry for the confusion.

I'll be around until Tuesday morning as well, but will probably hang with hcmom and entourage on Sunday, or until they leave. I have some friends in town that I hope to catch up with on Monday, but otherwise, I'm pretty open -- albeit carless...

Anyone want to join me in a sweat lodge, after TAM?

If it's too small for everyone, you could sweat enough by standing outside.

Great. Enjoy it! :D I got to see P&T last year fortunately but missed Lance.. he had broken his ankle or something so cancelled his shows for the week I was there. I think if there's a show I make sure to see during TAM it'll be either his or Mac King.

Are you sure, where did you see that? I've booked tickets, and haven't been told the show has been cancelled. The special JREF outings to P&T were cancelled, but they were at the weekend.

ETA: Ah, I see the other thread (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=177868). Damn. Nice of them to let me know.

Anyway, on-topic, I'm around on the Monday, flying back to the UK on the Tuesday. No plans yet.

I think nowadays, when you fail to pay your hotel bill, they no longer make you do the dishes (or take you out back to bury you in the desert), they just mess up your credit rating instead.

How does the scheduled "live challenge event" work? If no one is being tested will we be able to organize a group to see a show Sunday night? Or is it a sure thing that someone is being tested?

I want to visit the microbrewery at the Montecarlo.

Word on the street is that nobody is confirmed, so it's unlikely that a test will be ready in time for TAM.

I'd wait a bit more before scheduling something though. Alison could come through. You can always get tickets for something else in case nothing happens, but you can't get a refund if something does.

It's worth pointing out that the challenge last year was like watching paint dry, so if someone is coming to Vegas for the first time, or from a great distance, I'd skip it and do something else.

Wednesday I'm going to the Wednesday dinner (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?p=6047678#post6047678) and want to wander around Fremont Street. At some point, I will make it to the Bellagio to see the water show, dammit!! Other than that, my plans are to do whatever whenever. Maybe a visit to the dam Monday...

Whoo-hoo! I just found out my son, his wife, and their son will be coming to Vegas Sunday night, and hanging out with me through Tuesday!

Yippee!

We've made no plans for our short visit together however... I guess we'll figure it out when we see each other!

I'm jazzed!

I'm there Sunday night (1st TAM and 2nd time in Vegas after about 12 years), so if a plan for some activity or show comes up, I'm interested.

Two people who've never even had a curry? Oh man, sounds like someone needs a vindaloo... though likely best to start with a "gateway curry" like butter chicken...

If there's room for a couple more in a vehicle / taxi, I think we might have to come along for that.

I was just coming on here to say, "You mean...you have gone this far in life having never experienced butter chicken? ARE YOU MAD?"

Also: saag paneer.

Also also: garlic naan.

Also also also: Baigan bartha.

I live in the middle of nowhere. Around here Indian food is Corn and Buffalo meat.

And yes, I am mad that I have lived 40+ years without a chance to try curry.

What other secret mysteries are you missing out on? Vietnamese or Thai? We could get this all taken care of in one weekend... :D

I would love to go for Indian (but only if it's prepared mild to mildly spicy) food (mmmmm ... chicken tikka masala with plenty garlic naan), but if the Challenge happens, I have to hang around for it... But I'd love to go. On the other hand, we have a decent Indian restaurant here (surprise!), so it's not a priority. I've never had butter chicken, though...

And hcmom, they'd probably love to hang with you too!

The Phyzmo (Nissan Frontier 4x4) will be heading out for an afternoon/sunset exploration of Valley of Fire State Park at 5:30pm from the hotel registration area. Dress comfortably for blast furnace desert heat and bring a bottle of water. And a camera if you have one.

I really really really want to go to the strip and take pictures of pretty lights, REALLY don't want to drive.

I'm thinking Indian is out for my little group, we had Thai at about 3, so we aren't hungry again yet.
