"TELEVISION doctor Chris Steele has been given the all-clear from cancer after a 'diagnosis' from a Russian teenager who claims to have X-ray eyes.

Natalya Demkina stunned the GP from Didsbury during a live television show when she told him she could see a mystery stomach illness.

But it wasn't until tests at a Harley Street clinic revealed enlarged lymph nodes in his abdomen - an early sign of bowel cancer - that Dr Steele started to worry."

From the article:

She did correctly diagnose that Dr Steele's lymph nodes were enlarged and that he had had two hernias.

I saw it on TV and I *really* don't remember her saying anything about lymph nodes. I'm pretty sure she only said "hernia" and not two hernias. And this guy has been on TV talking about medical ailments for years.

Why bother with an MRI, just cut people open on her say so. It would save money...and I'm sure with the alternative medicine movement you could get people to go for it. (not myself of course)

Finally heard about her in the Australian media on the week-end (on Murdock's network). Completely uncritical. The assumption was that here we have a young Russian girl with paranormal powers that have baffled doctors who will now investigate her to see how her powers can be put to best use.

It's just been on UK TV in the last 5 minutes. The Doctor (Called Dr Chris on the show) has been for through tests and there is absolutely nothing wrong with him... clean bill of health.

There were some initial tests suggesting that Natalia was correct but he has just been on TV and stated that further testing showed nothing wrong.. nada .. zip .. nothing.

He's changed his tune, being very guarded as to the validity of Natalia. It's a daytime show and the presenter was pushing for him to say he thought it was "paranormal" but Dr Chris backed off totally saying that she should be scientifically tested and that all the testing so far had been inadequate.

Not what the presenter wanted to hear and he continued as though Natalia's diagnosis of Dr Chris had not been PROVEN to be false, talking about how "well" she would do in the USA.
Dr Chris mentioned stats etc but the presenter interrupted and basically stopped him.

If the USA part means visiting the JREF then I feel it may not be a good trip for her... most likely ;-).

So there you have it, a diagnosis live on TV proven to be FALSE yet the presenter still persisted totally ignoring the fact.

At least Dr Chris had some more sense this time and distanced himself totally from his "pro" stance - to a more sensible "well lets see some proper testing".

As always this 100% failure will be "overlooked".

Only in woo-woo land is a set of test results which show that everything that was mentioned in the "diagnosis" is in fact fine but something that wasn't mentioned at all in the "diagnosis" is showing a potential indicator of a problem claimed to be correct.

Didn't stop somebody in these fora claiming that Natalya had saved the doctors life though. :(
