View Full Version : Just an FYI regarding the latest Student Questions episode

Hey all, I just wanted to point out something from the latest Skeptoid student questions episode - specifically the discussion of black FEMA 'Coffin Liners'. While Brian is correct about the use of the term 'coffin liner' to denote the interior lining of a coffin, there is another way in which it is used. 'Coffin Liners' or 'Grave Liners' are fiberglass shells, similar in shape to a large bathtub, which are placed over a coffin once it has been lowered into the ground. Generally these liners are used as a sort of insurance policy against cheaply-made coffins which have a tendancy to break down after they've been placed in the ground, which can lead to depressions developing over graves where the dirt has pushed through the coffin and settled. Gravediggers use these liners to prevent that from happening. If the conspiracy theorists are discussing large box-like containers sitting in stacks in fields, that is most likely what they are talking about.

Speaking as a person who has dug his share of graves, it is always best to have a large supply of those things on hand; every time you inter a body, you need one, and you need one every time someone wants to move a coffin from one plot to another. You also need them for after an exhumation is done. In short, they're used more than one might think.

I must admit I always thought the idea of burying people in wooden boxes was so it would break down and eventually decpompose into the earth. I can understand exactly why people would want to preserve the bodies and thus the memories of a loved one, but I find it interesting that (and not wanting this to sound heartless or callous)modern coffin liners are returning us to the old crypt system.

Just an FYI - Those "FEMA Coffins" aren't coffins at all, but plastic burial vaults. They're made by a company called Polyguard. This is my first post, so I can't post a link. But if you Google Polyguard Vaults it's the first thing that comes up.

Basically, this vault is the thing that goes in the ground and into which you place a casket. It prevents the chemicals and organic residue generated by a human burial from leaking into the ground water and polluting the environment. Modern cemetaries are high volume burial grounds and if vaulting wasn't used, they would turn into massive chemical wastelands within a short period of time.

If FEMA and the WHO were purchasing coffins, they wouldn't be buying these things. The federal government has a very specific type of bodybag/casket arrangement that they use which is stored safely and sanitarily inside their emergency facilities.

Polyguard, as they state on their website, delivers their vaults via train and then truck. It is most likely that these "fields of coffins" near Chiacago and Atlanta are merely holding sites for Polyguard to store inventory until the vaults can be trucked to customers. Chicago and Atlanta are both major rail hubs and it makes perfect sense for Polyguard to pay some farmer a fee to allow them to store inventory on his/her property.

The government does not make it a common practice to merely store inventory on the side of the road, regardless of what it is. The handling of mortal remains is an especially sensitive subject and the feds do what they can - for better or worse - to keep images of the government's response to handling remains out of the press. FEMA, just like the Pentagon, buys a lot of body bags and coffins but you can bet they don't stack them on the roadside!

With all the conspiracy crap on the web, I'm surprised no one has simply given Polyguard a call to ask them!

An interesting (thanks all informants!!) thread. Especially since it is three new and low post number posters and one longer time high volume poster two, with me). I suspect more people would be looking in were it titled: New CT: "coffin liners" OR Fields of Gory: coffins litter US fields.

It's all in what ya call it!!

And, welcome in and have a good time to the new people!! Well done!!! :):):)

If you look at the link I provided above, someone did do just that. It didn't help :(

I've been a long time listener but finally had to de-lurk. In the interest of full disclosure I do work for the federal government and I consider myself to be patriotic, hardworking, and not the least interested in gasing my fellow Americans and stacking their bodies like cordwood along the side of the highway.

Of course, some will say, that's just part of the "disinformation" campaign proffered by our reptilian overlords.
