What constitutes a smoking gun would depend on the alternative theory about 9/11 that such smoking gun would be indicative of. NWO payed OBL and hired KSM to carry out 9/11? Then urrrr... a whistleblower on either side, or a damning document (proof of payment with purpose...) would be a smoking gun.

If you want to believe that DEWs dunnit, then I guess a whole arsenal of smoking guns would be laying around. Tens of thousands of people involved with developing and deploying such so-far-unheard-of things, faking all the evidence, psyoping, the entire world population, carrying away the damning physical evidence that the pulverized buildings would be, etc. etc. etc. etc.

To this day, WTC7 is still the biggest smoking gun of 9/11.

This is, in fact, literally true. The fact that a building collapsed after sustaining serious structural damage and burning unchecked for seven hours, and that a major engineering investigation found that the fires were the primary cause of the collapse, is the most suspicious circumstance truthers have been able to find in the events of 9/11. A child's forum would easily draw an appropriate conclusion.
