In this site I am seeing many intelectual opinions and razonable conclusions.
I want to begin a discussion about why the million challenge.
I think is a mode to bring paranormal talents to a certain place, who they can be followed and controled. Are they are stimulated to be part of a goverment agency instead of win a million that could be dangerous to their health?
Is really Randi as many people say, a real paranormal talent, who change his country to adquire a good payment work?
Why some challenges are so cruel and mounted like showbusiness? are the sponsors have some interest to prove other than reallity? I am thinking in homeopathy challenge, there where two scientist can't undestand how it works and Randi make them fall in ridiculus, instead to prove they have a real and non undertanding fact. Those sponsors are phamaceutical companies? goverment policies? NWO people who don't want to make a healthy world, just followers?
I hope this threath can survive.
Best wishes.

Welcome to the forum. Your post is hard to understand. However I make these points
1. JREF has nothing to do with Governments.
2. Randi has not claimed he has any paranormal abilities.
3. Some people who claim paranormal abilities do a lot of damage and harm. See http://www.whatstheharm.net/
4. Anyone with paranormal abilities should be able to make heaps of money. There is no documentation of anyone doing so.
5. For further information about the challenge read http://www.randi.org/site/index.php/1m-challenge.html
6. For more information about paranormal abilities in general see http://forums.randi.org/forumdisplay.php?f=7
7. For more information about homeopathy see http://forums.randi.org/tags.php?tag=homeopathy

Why some challenges are so cruel and mounted like showbusiness?
The test protocols and settings are agreed between the JREF and the applicant. If they are "cruel and mounted like showbusiness", that is how the applicant wants them.

You have a minunderstanding of what the challenge is. I suggest you read the FAQ on the official site.
But to give you the short version, the challenge started off as a bet between Randi and a psychic on a talk show.
The guy told Randi that he can demonstrate a real ability and asked Randi to put his money where his mouth is. That's kind of the whole point.
It's like saying "We don't see any evidence that psychic powers work, but if anyone want to demonstrate some, we got $1,000,000 with their name on it".

I don't believe that is a fair conclusion to draw. Just because everything is negotiated and agreed upon doesn't mean that everything is what both or either party "wants" them to be. It's fair to conclude that what is negotiated is not considered a "deal breaker" by either party, but I would offer that rare is the negotiation where neither party accepts a sub-optimal provision. For your statement to be true, you would need to establish that the provisions in question are presented by the applicant and not also "wanted" by Mr. Randi.

Slight correction. The origin was in 1964 on a radio panel discussion. A "parapsychologist" told Mr. Randi to put his money where is mouth is. It was not a psychic claiming he had powers he could demonstrate. It was at that point Mr. Randi made the $10,000 offer. This according to his book, "Flim Flam" (page 252).
BTW, $10,000 in 1964 would be about $70,000 today. I guess Mr. Randi was doing pretty well for himself to be able to write a check for that amount and, as he said, keep it in his pocket.

It cost him nothing to write it and keep it in his pocket. If he ever has to cash out on it, THAT will cost. ;)

I was aware of that so I have no idea why I wrote psychic.
Thanks for the correction.

Dangerous to who's health?
Is really Randi as many people say, a real paranormal talent, who change his country to adquire a good payment work?
No

Because the hard truth is cruel?
Those sponsors are phamaceutical companies? goverment policies? NWO people who don't want to make a healthy world, just followers?
The Conspiracy Theories Forum is down that way.
I hope this threath can survive.
I wouldn't count on it, at this rate.

Just wanted to say that I truly love Babel Fish. Yeah, its translations are not perfect, but its Spanish to English is better than its German to English. Surprisingly, its German to French ain't all that bad.
And when our new friend, Taro, tries to interpret our responses, he will have better luck if we use simple, declarative, non-idiomatic sentences.

taro is correct. I believe James Randi is making his own X-Men team, and of course he needs to find people with suitable talents.
What better way than to make it into a competition with a prize you can't resist? Of course, a lot of people have "won" the challenge over time, but the truth has been hidden and they're now all enslaved as part of Randi's mutant-army.
Sylvia Browne will be first.

Pharmaceutical companies? What?
