JERUSALEM (Reuters) - A prominent Israeli rabbi has proposed hanging bags of pig fat in buses to deter Muslim suicide bombers who may want to avoid contact with an "unclean" animal, an Israeli official said on Thursday.

Considering that, according to Islamic theology, a martyr is automatically forgiven all sins (including, I assume, contact with unclean animals), I doubt pig fat would make them reconsider for even a moment.

But seriously - I do not see how putting bacon on a bus will deter suicide bombers from blowing themselves up - their clerics will just say that their sins will be forgiven and their 72 virgins will still be waiting for them, and thus, the bombings will continue.

But this seems to come up more and more frequently.

Muslims already allow the use of pig products in medicines. In fact, if you take the trouble to look it up in the Qu'ran, you'll see that Muslims can even "get away with" eating pork under certain conditions.
