To me, this all seems just silly.

Janet Jackson, Beyonce Knowles, Conan O'Brien, and now this:

Give it a rest, already. Have a bit of a sense of humour. Back off on the puritanism!

There are more important things to fuss over than these!

On the Paiute Indian Reservation where I grew up there were only a tiny percentage that get offended over that sort of thing. Some would have been amused, most wouldn't have given a *****.

The ones that WOULD get offended are the the ones that are all gung-ho political anyway.

I don't think that my reservation is all that differnt from most.

I wouldn't all it neo-Victorianism, 'cos the Victorians were too busy subjucating "primitive cultures" and would have found Andre 3000's show a hoot. I wouldn't call it puritanism either, 'cos they'd've been upset about the singing, the half-naked women and folks generally having a good time. Maybe it's neo-bandwagon-jumping?

Native Americans/Indians are puritans now, I guess one learns something new every day.

Still, I wouldn't call them puritans, unless it was meant as an insult :)

Careful! You're in danger of insulting the Amish!

There is a fine line between pointing out obvious racism and being too sensitive. I'll have to see this performance to know whether it was bad or not.

Is that some sort of a clever, ironic statement?

Is that some sort of a clever, ironic statement? Vaguely, kinda-sort of...did it work?

That must be why my internet start-up, "Amish Online: Your high-tech source for all things Amish" tanked so spectacularly.

So does this mean that we can't listen to they Village People any more?

I mean, all the members are a stereotype...

Yes, I was thinking about adding it to my signature but was wondering how many people would understand it as such.

Didn't mean to imply that they are puritans any more than Beyonce Knowles, Janet Jackson, or Conan O'Brien are.

I meant to imply that the shrill protestations of impropriety make me want to puke.

Rustypouch, can I borrow your Village People albums, so I can tape them? I lost mine when I moved.

It's all a prelude to a lawsuit anyway.
