The only real question here is: how long until Bill Clinton is blamed for it?

This could get really, really, REALLY bad. If Armenia and Azerbaijan start fighting (again), the Russians will step in. Next thing you know, central Asia will turn into one giant Chechnya.

Politics + Religion often equals something ugly.
I wonder if we'll find out the Ajerzbijani Officer lost land/family/both during the conflicts there during the breakup of the USSR.

Cleon, if you get a chance, pickup a book entitled "The Great Game" (do not remember the author). It covers the competition between Russia and England in the 19th century for influence in the area between British India and Old Russia. Russian moves and conflicts in that region are not new and while the Russian Army is probably not up to re-conquest, you never know.....

I'll keep an eye out for it. Right now my "need to read" list is about 85,325 titles long (+/- 5 titles), so I might not get to it for a while. :)
The Russian Army might not be up to re-conquest, which makes it all the uglier; Russia would get involved in a fight they're not equipped to win, which would make it long and drawn out. Afghanistan, anyone? :P

Whoever would have thought studying English could be so dangerous.

That's not a good way to promote peace. Any word on why he did this?

Sort of reminds me of Dr. Strangelove..."Gentlemen! Stop fighting immediately! This is the War Room!" Or words to that effect...
