Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
I'm thinking about Gitmo.
We send terrorists there and we can do what we want to them because they are not on US.
Think about this: Suppose someone is indicted on RICO and the FBI sends them to Gitmo. Not on US "property", denied the basic Constitutional Rights guaranteed to every US citizen.
Hey there Mr. Enron flunky - we're sending you to Gitmo!
I find this very scary. Could the Government send someone to Gitmo and bash their brains in?
For terrorists I'm all for it. But not for me.
Do I have the right, as a US citizen, never to be taken out of this Country if I am indicted by a Grand Jury?

As I recall currently you do - as long as you were arrested on US soil and are a US citizen. But there is talk of removing citizenship under the so-called Patriot Act II. I am not sure of the details yet, but supposedly there will be a way to strip you of your citizenship for involvement with a terrorist group. One would expect that there would be a court to determine whether there was actual involvement, but right now the plans are so unclear that I can't say if this is true or not. Anyways, once they do that , then I think they could send you to Gitmo.

Personally I can't say I support or oppose a way of removing citizenship without seeing the details of the plan and what safeguards are in place, but I think we need to be very careful with such things.

Scary, one of the few comforting thought I retain is that while my government could kill me, it couldn't strip me of my citizenship for anything less then high treason.

No american is sent to Gitmo. It's our international holding facility. so the scenario you proposed would never exist
