Somehow, there's a thread about Our Ms Browne over on the Bad Astronomer's Bulletin Board...and I must say, she's taking quite a flaming. Things are getting somewhat humorous, though.

C'mon by and check it out. (http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=11404&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)

Someone might care to post that when Randi sent registered mail to Sylvia telling her that the money was in escrow, she refused to accept the mail! So even the "I don't know where the money is" excuse is a fake!

let me ask: Why do we continue to try and use "ordinary" methods to discredit her? She only gets away with it because she is "playing the game". Surely some inventive minds can think of a way to change the game so she is left stranded high and dry, in full public view? C'mon! We MUST be able to think of something???!

Remeber the time some nice sounding woman rang up, and said "I want to talk to my mother", and Sylvia said, "Yup she's dead all right" and the nice lady said "are you sure?" and evil old hag is "yup readin loud and clear" and so nice lady says "well my mum aint dead" and syliva said, "yes she is", and nice lady is like "no shes not", remember that?

Apart from making her look a fool like that, what else can we do?

Explain what really happens. Call in and do the same as the woman you are talking about (I still have the sound clip, it's a classic!).

The more we do this, the clearer it gets that she is a fake.

Hey Claus, could you post that clip? I'd love to hear it.

If you need hosting, I can provide.

Odd.
My browser (Intex at the moment) is happy with
http://www.skepticreport.com/
but refuses to recognise
http://www.skepticreport.com/download/

Does the link
http://www.skepticreport.com/download/sylviabrowne.mp3
actually work?

Very peculiar.
It loaded immediately in Opera 7
Intex 5 doesn't want to know.

Sylvia is ... unbelievable.

She is TOTALLY believable, provided you understand that her real "job" is making heaps of money out of very gullible and vulnerable people. "Psychic" has stuff-all to do with it. And if that falls through, she will sell snake-oil exactly the same way. Actually, come to think of it...

A few more of these and she will start to look bad. What would be better than what that nice lady did was to have the parent next to you, so you can say, "Well my Mum isn't dead, would you like me to put her on the phone?"

The author, Janet McDonald, was very kind to send me the material from her adventure with Sylvia. It's an exercise in dodging. The disclaimer alone is incredible. Sylvia can be held accountable for nothing.

I'll write an article about it soon....
