Probably a dumb question, but I seem to ask a lot of those.

If someone inherited solid silver flatware and serving dishes, ect, from the 30's and 40's, is it a better investment to try and sell them as is, or as bulk silver by weight?

Thanks!
Julia

its worth more as is.

if its quality flatware, there is a premium for 'antiques'. sterling silver sets are very expensive

Silver @ 25.00 per oz. (app) recently for the metal. If you know the pattern name or maker you should be able to find collector value, but that's not my field.

Hard to say. I'd get an appraisal of their value as silverware.

Unless it's dented or broken it will probably sell at a premium as silverware as opposed to scrap. Silver scrap will not go for $25/oz(spot price); sterling silver scrap will go for something like $15-20/oz.
