Egypt Deploys 1,000 Police After Christians Killed (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid=574&u=/nm/20040306/wl_nm/religion_egypt_deployment_dc_1&printer=1)
Sat Mar 6, 9:10 AM ET - SOHAG, Egypt (Reuters) - Egyptian authorities deployed some 1,000 police around a southern town on Saturday to forestall any Muslim-Christian clashes after two Christian men were killed in a street brawl, security sources said.
The Christians were axed to death after a donkey being ridden by a Muslim man slipped on the wet roadway outside their house in the town of Salamoun, about 350 km (220 miles) south of Cairo, they said.
And here I thought Compton was bad...;)

Compton is bad!Which is worse a white neighborhood where blacks will be stopped by police & questioned just because they are black or a black one in which whites caught there after dark risk being killed just because they're white?

I used to live in one of those neighborhoods. Predominantly black, high crime, a lot of gang activity where it wasn't uncommon to hear gunfire at night, etc. A place where white people feared to tread unless, like me, they lived there.
The thing is, nobody got killed because they were white. Suggesting that they could be is just fear mongering. Crime related violence is a matter of poverty, not race.

No one gets stopped by the police just because they're black either.Excuses work both ways.

I can give a counterexample. Last night I drove through a small complex of apartments with a buddy of mine who's black. He was explaining to me that the neighborhood here was dangerous ~ that somebody's grandmother got roughed up here last week, just walking down the drive.
"It's even dangerous for me. The people here are tight to who they know, and they're suspicious about outsiders."
There's a certain flavor in the air when you hear a taunting voice murmuring "What's a white boy doing here?"
There are places where a white boy would risk getting the sh** stomped out of him.
I've also lived in a neighborhood like the one you described, Mycroft, and I also never felt threatened. But there are other scenes and situations.

If the thugs were white, they would have just said something else to make you scared.

I live in a place were it is a right to carry. Someone wants to rough me up, fine but I taking 6 of them with me. If I survive I'll take that day in court, if not well I've taken six bad guys with me.
America has become a place of fear, where honest people can't walk the streets. this isn't an issue of anything other than standing up to criminals.
It doesn't matter what color skin the criminals have. Assualt me and you meet Mr. S &W .40.

I lived in L.A. for many years. I knew poeple who were shot and killed for their bank card, car and the color of the sportsjacket they were wearing.
Two were white, one was hispanic...all were killed by black gangbangers.
That is why police target blacks, not because they are black, (the old Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson defense), they are targetted because they commit most of the violent-gun-homicides in L.A.

please pay attention ZN. Police target blacks. They would prefer to target the people most likely to be involved in crime...that being the poor, unemployed and those who live in depressed areas... How do you pick someone who is most likely to fall into those categories? Well, there is a very high chance they will be black. So in order to make police work a lot easier black people should just put up with being harrassed... You do understand the difference between correlation and causation....don't you?? Or are you a "roosters make the sun come up" sort of guy?

You know, the first time I heard that was while using the bathroom in a Harlem school in third or fourth grade.
I must have developed an immunity or something, because nowadays I walk through SouthCentral LA without a care in the world, and nobody ever messes with me.
