Bump!

I'll be reserving my room tomorrow. Can't wait until July.

Sale started at 9AM PST today. The prices are good, but they do vary with time-of-year and don't appear to be $35 weekday/$60 weekend as advertised except for select dates. For TAM timeframe, for example: Tuesday July 12 is $45, Wednesday July 13 is $50; Thursday July 14 is $55; Friday & Saturday July 15 & 16 are $95 each; and Sunday July 17 is $55. Still a bargain, so I went ahead and reserved for planned Tuesday arrival. If anyone finds any lower rates for TAM, I'd be very interested in hearing about it, since these can be canceled.

I'll keep an eye out for future sales. :)

BTW, if you book a room and the price goes down, you CAN cancel the old one and book a new one.

Booked. Yes, higher price than last year, so keep an eye out for a lower price.

Scrut is correct. But I think the trick is to bring your own beer rather than drink the limited selection. Maybe just pay a modest corkage fee and go to town on craft ale.

Against the law, at least in most states. Maybe Nevada is different, but I doubt it.

It might be the case that since one would be the guest of the hotel, and that consuming alcohol on the premises is allowed (and only modestly encouraged), that the legal prohibition for drinking beer not bought from the bar but on the premises would be slight, if any.

Fundamentally, what's the difference between slugging one down at a room party vs. downstairs? It's all on the same property and publicly accessible. If its a serious concern, I recommend asking the hotel for its policy.

Against the law, at least in most states. Maybe Nevada is different, but I doubt it.Not sure about against the law, but certainly frowned upon. If you bring your own drink to the bar, the bartender will kick you out because that seat could be filled by someone who wants to buy a drink from her (and play video poker if it's a gaming bar) and thus tip her out. If you cost the bartender money, you'll be kicked out real quick. Not bar etiquette to BYOB. Don't do it.

Good rates, but still can't beat what I locked in two sales ago.

It did, however, inspire me to go ahead and book our flight so I can cross that off the list. I'll hold off on booking the car, as that's one thing that tends to get a LOT cheaper as the date gets closer.

Now if only they'd turn on TAM registration...

If you want cheap transport and don't mind walking and much longer travel times, there's a bus stop on the NE corner of the Las Vegas Boulevard / Silverado Ranch Bouldevard intersection. That takes you to the South Strip Transfer Terminal. I used that a lot before TAM7. IIRC, a 24-hour bus pass was $7, which included the Deuce buses which go up and down the strip.

I have booked a two-queen-bed room for Wed.-Sat. inclusive. Looking for three roomies to share the costs. I did book at the sale rate and will keep my eyes open to see if I can get a better rate between now and then. So if you would like to come aboard, your room will cost about $100 for the four nights, or $25 per night, and that isn't bad! I am 53 years old and a non-smoker. I am not a prude but expect my roomies to behave decently, not break the furniture, and stay reasonably clean and sober. Fine with me if you come and/or go at any hour of the day or night -- I haven't missed a TAM yet, and I know the nature of the beast -- but as long as you observe quiet while one or more of your other roommates is sleeping, we'll get along just fine. You may respond to steveb@e-z.net at any time and/or call me at 503-246-9520. This annual offer of mine usually fills up fast, just because the takers know they'll end up with safe, sane comrades and pay a very reasonable cost for the same. So let me know ASAP, and first come, first served, etc., and see you at TAM!!

It looks like they will have the shuttle in July from the South Point to the Strip. When I checked it out this week, it ran about every 45 minutes, made multiple stops, and you could get a 1-day pass for $8. I assume this is per calendar day and not for a full 24 hours (like the bus passes), but didn't ask.
