But Boeing did make a sale to Korea (KAL?) with the proviso that KAL make lots of the parts. So the concept that the Emirates do the same with Airbus is not so far fetched. Except that KAL was already in the plane parts business, making their own replacement parts.

What the hell does it matter what Emirates 'wants' to do. Last I checked they were like the sixth largest airline in the world. What makes anyone think they are capable of buying a controlling interest in either of the world's two biggest aircraft manufacturers? This is especially silly with Boeing, who in addition to being the largest aircraft manufacturer on Earth, is also one of the largest defense contractors and, if I remember correctly, the largest exporter in the USA.

I'd love to work for Boeing, so I'm probably biased.
