View Full Version : Looking for a roommate for TAM 2011

Hello, I booked a room due to the lowered prices. Single bed, Deluxe King size. I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing the room with me. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (not Sunday) night.

And, more importantly, since I'm just 18, and the hotel requires one to be 21+ to check in, I need someone who can check in for me.

(I'm male, in case you are blind and care about that sort of thing).

I lie very still when sleeping, so don't worry about being disturbed if you're a light sleeper. I also don't snore, grind teeth, or anything like that.

Need any other info, just post here or drop me a PM.

I can be your roommate, if you wish. PM to follow.

ETA: Though, I hope we can change that to two separate beds, please.

Since the sale is over, any re-booking or modification will be a good deal more expensive, I checked. But there's a lot more time, so there might be more sales coming up.

If anyone else is fine with sleeping in one bed, feel free to inform me.

I wouldn't stress about it. There should be more sales to come, and you can cancel your existing reservation and book a new one if necessary.

Yep. So I'll just be leaving all options open, really.

Lots of times, even as late as when you check in, you can change the bed arrangement with no extra charge incurred.

In this case, just contact South Point and see if they can change it now, and then you won't have to worry about it later.

Agree. I would just try giving them a call, rather than trying to do it through their website. This far in advance I don't think it should be a problem.

And TB, I know you're from very liberal Sweden, but here in the US (even in Vegas) I think it'll be easier to find a roommate if you do have two beds. ;)

Intercontinental call? Sounds expensive. I'll hold on to my reservation for now. Next time they have a sale I'll look into re-booking.

My experience is, that you will be able to modify with little problem. Just keep checking the sales

Or have someone in the US, like Wowbagger, call them in person with your reservation number and tell them you need two beds

Or, you could try using something like Skype to reduce the cost.

I'd appreciate it a lot. I'm a bit awkward with English at times as well since I speak it so rarely, and it's especially tough over a phone. I'll PM you what numbers they sent me.

I wouldn't consider rooming with you to be a gift. :)

I wouldn't consider rooming with you to be a gift. :)He might not room with me, if he doesn't want to.

But, I did change his reservation for him.

Tubba's reservation is now for two queen beds instead of a single king sized one.

Excellent, thanks a lot. Then, if you want to, we can share the room.

And that leaves the 2 of you with an extra bed for someone else.:covereyes

Thanks, Wowbagger - I was going to offer to try and get it changed for him. We have a great community here, don't we.... :D

This. It is my plan to get one of these juicy room deals, offer to help put up Scrut in a devious attempt to get his hopes up, and then withdraw the offer at the last minute, thus dashing his hopes upon the sharpened rocks of my cold, dark, callous soul.

Scrut brings out the best poetry in me :D

Having roomed with Wowbagger at D*C 2009, I can say he's a pretty worthy roommate. I only had to smite him once ;)

I have booked a two-queen-bed room for Wed.-Sat. inclusive. Looking for three roomies to share the costs. I did book at the sale rate and will keep my eyes open to see if I can get a better rate between now and then. So if you would like to come aboard, your room will cost about $100 for the four nights, or $25 per night, and that isn't bad! I am 53 years old and a non-smoker. I am not a prude but expect my roomies to behave decently, not break the furniture, and stay reasonably clean and sober. Fine with me if you come and/or go at any hour of the day or night -- I haven't missed a TAM yet, and I know the nature of the beast -- but as long as you observe quiet while one or more of your other roommates is sleeping, we'll get along just fine. You may respond to steveb@e-z.net at any time and/or call me at 503-246-9520. This annual offer of mine usually fills up fast, just because the takers know they'll end up with safe, sane comrades and pay a very reasonable cost for the same. So let me know ASAP, and first come, first served, etc., and see you at TAM!!
