I'm a bit torn here as NECSS is the same weekend, but if for some reason you're not going to NECSS, consider the AHA meeting. Big name speakers (Pinker, Dawkins, Woszniak) plus.. I'll be organizing a limited space tour to Salem, MA to explore the witch hysteria!
Details at the AHA's site (http://www.americanhumanist.org/What_We_Do/Annual_Conference/2011).

Steve Wozniak?
Yes, and I am going to miss out on meeting him, which is a bummer. :( (Not that I care much about Apple, in particular. But, the guy is a legend.)
I am already committed to NECSS. At least we got John Allen Paulos, whoever that is.

Yeah, I spelled his name wrong. Mea culpa. :(

He hasn't really had much to do with Apple for 25 years, if not more.
I'd like to meet him sometime.

I'm curious about the agenda/schedule. Is there a rough draft available? If I were to attend, it would be with my 13-year-old son, and he has a limited attention span for lectures.

I think I'm going to try to attend (the Salem tour, too). My son won't be able to get away from school, and no one else in my family would be interested, so it'll probably be just me.
Won't know if I can manage it for a bit. Have to try to arrange schedules. I've always wanted to meet Dawkins in person, and several of the other guests sound interesting, too.

DallasDad, I'd ask the AHA if what they think about kids at their conference. They do run a cool summer camp program. The tour would be no problem, and if there are kids on the bus, I'll make sure to keep them engaged. I mean.. we've got hangings, crushings, witches and misbehaving kids! What more could you want?

Thanks, Jeff. I'll ask them.

Alas, I'm not going to be able to get away. Really wish I could. Hope the conference goes well.

He wrote lots of great books, including Innumeracy and Irreligion.

I know of at least one NECSS attendee who is excited about meeting him (and it's not me).
