Are there any skeptical gamers going to PAX East (http://http://www.paxsite.com) in Boston (Mar. 11-13, 2011)? It would be fun to have a kick-off skeptics gathering (brunch?) before things really get going, so we can find some line buddies that have more in common with us than just video games.

How much wargaming is there at PAX East? I prefer the older Avalon Hill games; are they played? I missed Unity Games 17 yesterday; I was set to play AdvCiv but we didn't get enough players.

Even if I don't go to PAX, I might be able to make brunch.

I'll wait until closer to the date before figuring out anything specific. Even if there aren't any more attendees, I'll keep you posted.

Scott, I know they have tabletop games, but I thought it was mostly D&D, Catan, Magic, etc. type tournaments. They had a bunch of games to check out at the last PAX I went to (Seattle 08), and of course they'd let you bring your own and play in the "open play" areas. I think it could be difficult finding enough people for the more complicated, long games, but probably easier than in a less gaming oriented crowd? Sorry I don't have a more specific answer, but I'm not too familiar with Avalon Hill games myself.

Thanks Caglvo. I'll probably go to ASLOK again this year, and I may return to Doncon. But please post here if there's a skeptics' brunch and I'll try to make it.

There's a Vermonter on the forum? Other than Stellafane and HamRadioGuy?

PAX East Schedule:
http://east.paxsite.com/schedule.php

Unfortunately, the keynote starts at 10:30 am, way earlier than I expected based on my old schedule from PAX '08. If we did get something together, it would be definitely be more like a breakfast to get us in line in time.
