My wife gets this type of crap all the time... Most are common sense.... the rest seem like pure Internet myth.

Bounce repels insects? Somebody's been sniffing too much Bounce.

A Sheet of Bounce will: (this is new)

1. It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.

2. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

3. Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop outdoors during mosquito season.

4. Eliminates static electricity from your television screen. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

5. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

6. Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

7. Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

8. Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

9. Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front seat

10. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean.

The anti-static agent apparently weakens the bond between the food

11. Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom of the wastebasket.

12. Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

13. Eliminate static electricity from venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

14. Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

15. Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

16. Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or sneakers overnight.

17. Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

I believe this one, provided you find the smell of Bounce to be pleasant. At least it works if it's hot anyway, I don't know if it works when it is cold. I once left a box of fabric softener sheets in my mini-van during the summer. It took me a couple of days to figure out what the perfumy smell in the van was.

As for repelling insects and the like though, I doubt it.

i think the repellency to insects might come from making them all laugh too hard to suck effectively.

10. Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean [/B]

Soaking overnight will loosen pretty much any baked-on food, with or without a sheet of Bounce.

18. Use them to wipe your butt and give it that clean, fresh mountain breeze smell.

Here's a use I observed in a dorm room once...

19. Roll up a dozen sheets into a tube and blow your exhaled pot smoke through it. Completely eliminates the odor, saving you from a visit by the RA and a trip to the Dean's office. ;)

Er, isn't that a bad thing, considering that their main purpose is to reduce static electricity?

You do need to be careful not to inhale through the tube though, or your mouth will taste like Bounce. This is not good.

Who came up with Spring fresh scent anyway? I've been through a few springs in my time. It smells like wet thawing dog crap. Please keep that out of my laundry.

perhaps you'd like to try Autumn Rain, Summer Breeze or Winter Fresh Bounce instead?

I think the best use for dryer sheets (aside from the dryer), is to keep a couple in your bag (especially in the winter), for staticky hair or clothes.

Scented love letters are a perfect "I love you" gift to your one and only. But, say you are too cheap to spray your favorite perfume on that loveletter of yours? Bounce dryer sheets, you've come to save the day (again!) :)

Does rubbing one's head down with a dryer sheet ever attract strange looks?

Anyway, this use sounds feasible. We sometimes use fabric softener in guitar building to bend difficult to bend woods. Makes it nice and pliable. I'd imagine it'd do the same for baked on food.

Somebody needs to forward this to the Mythbusters--sounds right up their alley, they have already done a multiple myth-busing using Cola.

Or if you are really cheap, just write your love letter directly on the Bounce sheet. :D

Of course, as soon as you turn the TV on the beam of high voltage electrons will reestablish the static charge. Don't try this while the set is on!

I generally go to the washroom for that sort of thing. But even rubbing them on my hands, and then smoothing down my hair seems to work. It gets really dry here in the winter, and the static is out of control.

Have you tried soaking them with Bounce?

This page here (http://www.snopes.com/spoons/oldwives/skeeters.htm) looks like the original e-mail for Bounce Fabric Softener mythology. Send it in to Snopes, so they can update the page.

It reminds me of the Coca-Cola (http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp) e-mail...

As long as you don't climb into the dryer...

I think Bounce started it so people would use more dryer sheets. I remember an article in GQ magazine years ago that recommended that you should use a disposable razor once and use a new one every time you shaved. Wonder who paid for that article?

no, that only counts when you use a fresh bar every time you wash. if you don't, you can buy soap every so often like the rest of us. And reuse it.

Even if your TV has a Plasma screen?

DO NOT use Bounce on your plasma screen!!!! Each sheet is impregnated with chemicals which you really do not want on your tv screen.
