Now I know we're on the same wavelength, how many Kinky fans can there be? We saw Kinky in concert here in St Louis a few years back, and have an autographed copy of "Old Testaments and New Revalations".
We also have all his "mystery" books.
Just listened to an interview with him on NPRs "Whadda ya Know" show; seems he's running for governor of Texas.
His campaign motto: "How hard can it be?"
Says Willie wants to be head of the Texas Rangers if he gets elected.

I love the Kinkster's books, and I know that he's a C&W singer, but I've never heard his songs before.
I'm going to have to search for his CDs. Strangely, WH Smith in the UK don't have much call for a Jewish-Texan-Crime-Writing-Country and Western Singer. Fools.

Kinky's tunes are....unique. Hehe. Try to get the above-mentioned "Old Testaments" CD, it's a compilation, 2-disc set, mostly live. Got most of his good stuff on there.

For Mel Gibson:
They aint mak'n Jews, Like Jesus anymore
They don't turn the other cheek
They way they done before
I heard that redneck hollar
As he hit the hard wood floor
They aint mak'n Jews, like Jesus anymore.
Or words to that effect.....:D

I don't follow the exploits of Mr. Friedman, and I don't have any of his records, but I have read some of his books. And though I am not a fan of the Kinkster, but it gives me comfort that there is a place in the world for the Kinkster.

Notch me up as one. I like his books, maybe not so much the plots but I love his use of language.
But his songs are best. People think he was just a joke act, just trying to provoke, and he was to an extent, but they forget that he actually wrote some pretty pertinant songs as well.
"Sold American", "Ride em Jewboy", People who read People Magazine" and the brilliant "We reserve the right to refuse service to you" are worth downloading for anyone who wants a taste before buying the cds.

lol, I heard of him than got my first listen of him the other day by accident on launchcast. I guess if you like the Old 97s or whiskeytown, the launchcast player will think you will like Kinky as well, and in my case they were right:D

There's no one quite like Kinky. He's a hoot to be with - funny and just so out there that you're left at the end of the night smiling and shaking your head.
Plus, he played with Bob. What more could you want?
