And this question too:

How Should Medium/ColdReader Transcripts Be Analyzed?

Descriptive methods?

Inferential methods?

Some other way?

Not at all?

Why are you asking this question in a new thread??

I thought you had already made up your mind to use descriptive statistics?

In other words, you have gotten nowhere? All this discussion on the other thread was for nothing??

Why are you playing these games, T'ai Chi?

If they are edited exactly what would you infer?

I do not understand how you can determine whether a factoid is a psychic hit without knowing the probability of its being a hit by pure chance. And if you're not going to determine how many psychic hits the guy got, then what's the point of the analysis at all?

Perhaps the point is to see if psychic readings are similar to cold readings. Assuming that you can collect a set of psychic readings that are known to be free of hot reading, then you could simply count the hits in those readings and in a set of cold readings done under similar circumstances. Not only does this sound virtually impossible, but it would still leave a big question: If the psychics are frauds, are they better or wose cold readers than the acknowledged cold readers?

Wouldn't it be easier to find a psychic who can tell us stuff so extraordinary that we couldn't possibly deny him?

Claus, I asked the question first.

Answer it if you are able to.

I think the easiest thing would be to study what admitted cold readers can do, seeing the number of hits/misses in a double blind test, and--especially--if there are certain categories of information they are more likely to get correct than others.

Maybe if someone did that, they could swap raw data with GS and analyze (on their own) the transcripts/tapes of his five mediums (in identical circumstances to your cr's...so you'd have to decide ahead what those would be).

There's nothing out there studying cold readers and I think this would be very interesting (plus, only half the work! :) ).

You know very well that GS refuses to let any raw data be published.

I have no idea why you even think of this as a viable suggestion.

All the concern that it may not be truthful, competent, etc seems misguided to me. Surely the real question is: could it be any worse than a human politician? :)
