This story just in.....http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040325/od_nm/lamb_dc_1

A lamb was born with the name "Allah" on one side and "Mohammed" on the other. It's a miracle.

OK, here's the thing: I read Arabic. Learned it in college.

I'm trying really hard, and I can't see "Allah" anywhere on that animal. I can see maybe a Lam (the Arabic letter for "L"), but not much else.

They don't have a picture of the "Muhammed" side, but I'd be really interested in seeing that. "Allah" is pretty basic--"Muhammed" would take a bit more doing.

But if God wrote it, he has really crappy handwriting.

Well, it's a step up for him to start vandalising lambs instead of aubergines.

But I must say, that sheep looks incredibly smug :D

This sounds really, really familiar.

The lamb has it's own name spelt on it's side? It's a miracle!!!

I'm pretty sure I saw a news story about a sheep with arabic words on it sometime last year.

New avatar Luke? A lamb is a lot cuter than a bloody band-aid.

:D

I may be thinking of even longer ago. Like just before the new millenium. Didn't a lamb appear in the Middle East right around then that had the end-of-the-world people all excited?

Does this ring a bell with anyone else?

I vaguely remember something like that too.

But I may be getting it confused with the white buffalo that was born not to long ago.

Are you thinking of this thread? (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31629) A baby was born with a birthmark spelling out name of his uncle.

I'm pretty sure I've heard about some sort of Arabic letters inside of a tomato a few times. Also on the side of a Nike shoe.

Damfino. Every couple years someone makes a big thing out of God's name in Arabic appearing on something, or the Virgin Mary appearing in a potato chip, or SOMETHING. Humans like patterns, and see them even where none exist.

Well, if this is the image of the Virgin Mary:

then I clearly see her in the picture. She has her hand on the lamb's butt.

Wasn't there an athletic shoe that was taken off the market because its logo, which was clearly in English (something like "Air Wear") looked vaguely Arabic?

yeh. And actually, when I looked at it, you could see it. I doubt it was intentional, of course, but it didn't take a stretch of the imagination to see "Allah" in the way they did the lettering. To see it in the goat requires massive quantities of imagination and various pharmaceutical products.

An exact fit I think you'll find! Allah is indeed akbar.

I was reminded last night about an unfortunate airline whose seat coverings happened to feature something that looked like "Allah" in arabic.

Some cleric made a huge fuss because he thought it was blasphemy to have people sitting on the name of Allah on long-haul flights.

Yum, yum, yum. That is all I can say.
How appropriate, as we prepare to observe the passion of our (true) Lord, that we are given the opportunity to consume and excrete a symbol of a false one. My eyes mist at the irony of it.

Hmmm. Wasn't Yahya Atrash the same woman who claimed to see the face of Elvis in a pile of camel dung last year?

Not "exact," not IMO anyway, but at least I see where they're coming from now. It's still a stretch, unless you use Paint to get the point across. :)
