cancelled or "postponed" That's a scary thought. Is there currently any legitimate way for Bush to envoke this or would it be a police state-like coup?

People had the same conspiracy theories about Bush Sr. The theory was that he would use the fact that the US was engaged in Somalia to not turn over the presidency or to cancel the election.
The only thing conspiracy theorists are consistent on is being wrong.

Only someone who doesn't know about the Martians on the dark side of the Moon with the "Hoagland for Pres" banners would say that.

I remember R. Limbaugh using the phrase "October Surprise" while describing B. Clinton's thirst for power.

How would a coup in America work? Every Inauguration Day I've seen, I wonder that.
I could see how it might happen, but, it seems like it would be almost more effort to achieve than actually running for office.
Besides, people with a dictatorial bent can always go run a corporation....

I don't like Bush and I will not vote for him. However, some of the things I have heard bandied about for "October Surprise" scenarios (especially cancelling the election, I don't remember who or on what thread but a couple of people on this very board were throwing that one around a few months back) are pretty serious charges and ones I don't think should be thrown around without some pretty solid evidence. The mere fact that he is scum does not constitute evidence for these things.

What did the Sultan of Vicodin have to say about it? I am unfamiliar with it.
