Never has the phrase "the frogosis of evil" been more truly apparent!

Dark as in black and white films? Disturbing as in terrible advertisements?

I'm convinced. Where can I get some Wilkins?

Person one: "Cartoons nowadays are so VIOLENT!"
Person two: "And here's a cartoon of Mickey Mouse smoking a cigarette while trying to figure out a way to blow up Minnie Mouse with Dynamite so he doesn't have to pay spousal support."

This was the late 50s... Henson must have been in his late teens, right? These certainly look teenagery. Not unlike the stick figure death videos my oldest made when he was 15. I sure hope my kid does as well as ol Jim did.

Henson was born in 1936, and the commercials were made in in 1957 through 1961:

Who would've thought Kermit ran a coffee protection racket in his youth?

"Things seem to. . . happen . . . to people who don't drink Wilkins. Just like they seem to . . . happen . . . to people who don't pay their horsetrack debts."

This would also go a long way towards explaining Kermit's propensity to flip out and flail his arms. Guy had a serious habit problem.
And judging from those videos, a rap sheet so long he's earned a permanent no-fly and a place on several INTERPOL alert lists.

Ah - OK, so he was in his early 20s. So... ummm... kids grow up faster these days, right? An early 20 something in '56 equates to a 15 yr old in 2006.
Or, something.

At 180 it would have been syndicated, and Wilkins would have had to pay royalties to all the actors. Why do you think Kermit ended up running a dead-end theater?

As a front for a Mafia money-laundering operation, of course.

Wilkins coffee's instant, and probably tastes like boiled factory sweepings, and I can't have coffee anymore because of acid reflux- but I want some now, those commercials were just that awesome.

Is that guy he is blowing up supposed to be the cookie monster?
Maybe just the cookie monster's little brother. To me it looked like Telly and sounded like Oscar.
