It seems its not just dogs that Americans keep under control with small arms. Check this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/2826587.stm) out!
The man hung the laptop on his bar wall like a hunting trophy, police said
An American man may face charges after he apparently shot his laptop computer in frustration after it kept crashing.
George Doughty a 48-year-old from Lafayette, Colorado, was working in an office when he walked next door into the bar he owned and announced to patrons that he was going to shoot his laptop computer, local newspapers said.
Mr Doughty then reportedly warned customers to cover their ears, before shooting the laptop four times.
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws can shoot computers...

Disgusting!
I bet there was plastic and silicon spread all over the place.
This guy should have his face put next to a drain and beaten severely with a floppy disk..

I think all computers should come with a cybereuthanasing device as standard.

I was thinking of something that gives more personal satisfaction at the point of despatch. :)

Not just Americans! A possible European inspiration for George Doughty's actions has been revealed:
Austrian police reports state that a Mr W Tell had been observed shooting Apples with a crossbow as far the 1300's. One can only wonder what his response would have been if he'd been confronted by a Windows machine!

Yet another good story showing why MS Windows should be banned. Do it for the children!

Software doesn't crash computers. Users crash computers.
I locked up my own system trying to teach my son software safety.
If we outlaw spam, only outlaws will spam.
and so on . . .

Naah. Some versions of Windows will just crash themselves for no apparent reason. Windows 95/98, for example, had to be patched because:
Due to a problem with the timing algorithm in the Vtdapi.vxd file, your Windows-based computer may stop responding (hang) after 49.7 days of continuous operation.
Leave it on, let it sit - even just on the screensaver. Crash.

And some guns, especially old muzzle loaders, can spontaneously fire, not requiring any people to pull the trigger for them to kill.
But that's not in the spirit of this thread, I think.

I save all the AOL cd-roms I get in the mail, then blow the hell out of em at the range. They're great little targets.

The HERETIC will BURN for Desecrating an AVATAR of THE Machine GOD.
The folowers of the true faith will scourge the world of the Apple Heresy and followers of the Dark God, Unix.
All must submit to the will of His Most Celestial Majesty, Voice of God on Earth, Pontifex Maximus, Bill.
Judgement is nigh. The Jihad is starting. Consider the state of your very soul.

Don't be so quick to judge this guy!
What are YOU going to do the next time you're walking down an alley with your family and a crazed laptop comes charging at you?
Worry about whether its motherboard abused it? Ask it if it needs Laptop Welfare? Or would you valiantly defend your family by giving it two bullets right in the monitor?
(which seems to be the target of choice for computer-destroyers even though the monitor is really innocent, it's killing the messenger really)

Hah, no true laptop would ever harm anyone, any laptop that does not love his neighbor is obviously not a laptop. The Machine God is a loving and benevolent God, who has a plan for the universe and a place for you in that plan. Do not lament when the server crashes and you lose all of your work and have to come in on sturday to complete your assignments. This is all part of the Machine God's grand plan . No one can know the mind of the Machine God, it is orders of magnitude more brilliant and subtle than we.
