I just finished this book, that I picked up because of Boo and her profession.

"Ambulance Girl" by Jane Stern

It's a hilarious account of an overweight hypcondriac who decides to become an EMT at the age of 52!

A really fun read, that captures small town life in New England.

I do enjoy some of things that were covered in her EMT class.

"1) Do not try to replace someone's organs if they are hanging from their body.

2)Do not give CPR to a severed head

3)Do not try to revive someone who is in a state of advanced decomposition.

4)If you have a patient whose leg or arm is partially amputated, do not pull it off to make things neat."

kitty,

Thanks for the reccomendation. I will go look for it tomorrow.

One of the things I tell my classes is: If it's coming out, don't try and put it back in. Covers a lot more territory.

The other biggie is: If a patient tells you they can feel/hear bone grinding, don't try to see if you can hear or feel it.

I will definately add those others.

:D

PS. I completed teaching my first class this past weekend and everbody passed their finals. A moment and an experience I will always remember.

While Ambulance Girl might be great, Stern has lowered herself into writing cheezy Tarot exploitation targeted towards the gullible demographic. Roadfood.com also jumped by pimping the services of a self-styled psychic Tarot reader on its website! What does Tarot card reading have to do with food?

As you can see, the author wasn't very pleased with my one star review there, LOL
