So since Microsoft teamed up with Nokia, there is no longer a symbian OS for smart phones, RIGHT? Do you know about this? So this graph is actually wrong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Smartphone_share_current.png

In fact the only 4 smart phones, I guess, now are:

Android
Apple
RIM
Windows Moble
Or am I wrong?

Symbian still exists and is different from Windows Mobile. Nokia will support Symbian until 2016.

I suppose you're trying to claim Symbian's market share as being Windows Mobile market share?

Yes, you're wrong.

Nokia is still selling Symbian phones and will support them until at least 2016 (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/12930_Sephen_Elop_software_updates_t.php); I don't think they've launched a Windows Mobile phone yet. You also missed WebOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webos) on Palm (now from HP, who gave up on WM).

Comparing the different versions of that image over time is interesting. In a year, Android went from 10% to 33%, Apple went up a bit (14% to 17%) and Microsoft over halved their already small share (from 7% to 3%). Nokia's Symbian went from 44% to 31%.

I never knew that Symbian was ever that high. Coincidentally, I used it for the first time today and wasn't impressed.

Yay for Linux and Android!

I have been using Symbian for a while and I can't see any problems with it at all.

The MS operating system on my partnet's Palm Treos is baffling. It takes me a good 15 minutes to work out basic things like using the camera and finding contacts.

It is so counter intuitive. So Nokia going with MS seems like very bad news.

No, they havent. The company issued a profit warning today, saying that Symbian is losing market share rapidly. They intend to ship their first Windows Mobile phones later this year (which is something a lot of people don't believe in, since they've been absolutely :rule10 in predicting their release schedules for years).

Windows Phone 7 is wildly different from earlier Microsoft phone/PDA efforts. I don't know if it's great or not (I like my Android and I'll be sticking with it for the foreseeable future), but it shouldn't be judged based on their old OSes.
